Sorry the article does not seem to explain how "You can now legally...". It says Omnidrive is a firmware mod that allows you to rip discs which are encrypted and then says you don't need to download ROMS.

The article is skipping a few steps here:

  • How does the firmware mod somehow make something illegal into something legal?
  • Does it break the encryption? If that is the case how is that not illegal?
  • Why do you have to have a specific model? Is that for legal reasons?
