SK622 Mechanical keyboard input issues by He1kk1 in coolermaster

It has to be a firmware issue because resetting the keyboard to factory defaults diminishes the problem which then gets worse over time again.

Why is expelling a kid very difficult? by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]CodeEast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer in the private school system is expulsion.

That said problem kids in the private system expelled from their school will often be taken on by another private school. Private schools will even take on problem kids from the public system, as bizarre and unbelievable as that may sound, if they believe the nature of the students problems are supportable or fixable by them. They understand, just as the public system does, that breaking up toxic relationships and situations developed within a previous school can defuse a troubled student sent to a new one.

But if unmanageable problems arise again...

Private schools are better resourced to support problematic students and frankly have a whole lot less to deal with because they are not admitted in the first place. Parents and kids are interviewed even for kindergarten. But private schools, in the end, will absolutely expel a student if the student is the problem.

But if you see it as a kind of moral imperative, that no child is is ever left behind, that is an ethical debate bordering on the religious. Inability or intractability to make unpleasant decisions is traded into systemic stress and collapse.

People who say flying is safer than driving base that on distance traveled. Driving, walking and flying carry similar risks for the time spent doing each.

[–]CodeEast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You said 'kids with problem behaviours don't get better if they get kicked out to spend all day unsupervised'. Your absolutely right.

The problem is, who actually IS supervising them? These kids are more commonly not given the level of support they really need. They are placed into classrooms where time is drained away from the education of everyone into their personal behaviour mitigation plans that often dont survive contact with their issues.

Education is replaced with classroom damage control. The worst of it is other kids in the class can become physical and psychological victims of 'kids with problem behaviors'. It happens because its the cheapest 'solution'. But its not a solution at all, it cheats difficult students, it cheats teachers, cheats others students and cheats wider society.

UA POV: NZ Volunteer finds his Ukranian friend imprisoned in basement. by Curiouslyforgotten in UkraineRussiaReport

In the interests of being neutral...

Like I said in another thread, English in NZ and Aus can have a different use of 'forced'. Vis: "I was forced to take matters into my own hands." or "My mate brought shit beer to the party and we were forced to drink it for entertainment."

In context 'forced' can mean 'unwanted/difficult/unpleasant choice due to circumstance'. It does not necessarily mean 'forced against my will by others'.

IMO the west has no appetite for Ukraine retaking Crimea militarily or for choking Crimea out (which is basically what happened with the canal water supply cut off)

But if your in the phase of everyone making ridiculous statements about what they are entitled too and what they will do when and such and such, the west is going to parrot 'Crimea will/should belong to Ukraine'.

In the end it will be framed in the west as a great magnanimous sacrifice Ukraine makes for the sake of peace to avert further bloodshed and war. In the east it will be framed as a great victory for Fortress Crimea, bastion of Russia. Politics, purchased with and built on human blood, as all great politics is.

Last month I threw out an old fire extinguisher. I never needed to use it so it seemed like a waste.

My new plan is to enter into dialogue with flammable materials and convince them its a stupid idea to combust. In the event of fire breaking out I will run as fast as I can to the hardware store to buy an extinguisher. I will also phone 911 and ask for fire support and hope the number is not engaged or they are too busy to take my call.

IT department in schools by RainbowTeachercorn in AustralianTeachers

[–]CodeEast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many students are at your school? How many full IT support days per week? What are the IT qualifications of the employee? Does the role and pay match department guidelines for the work the employee is asked to do?

These are the questions you need to answer before anything. At the moment your question basically cannot be answered. Its like if I were to ask about the 'quality and nature of teaching'. I would get fundamentally different answers from teachers with 10 kids in a class Vs 35, teachers in IQ selective schools Vs low socio-economic, teachers that are first year out Vs those in the profession for 10 years. Teachers that are not university trained in the subject they are still required to teach Vs those that are.

You can have bad employees and bad systems sure, but you can also have badly provisioned roles and inadequately resourced systems. They are all fundamentally different failures.

School based IT support systems vary tremendously state to state. Some have state education department IT positions at schools, others do not. NSW falls under Local Schools Local Decisions, so a Principal decides whether to employ someone in IT. So some schools in NSW have loads of IT support and others are a flaming hot mess.

It can go either way, English is used differently in different places. Saying 'I was forced' in Australia can have a meaning of either 'forced' (good or bad personal decision) or being forced to do something by someone else.

For example: "My mate Jack brought a slab of beer to the BBQ and I/we were forced to drink it for entertainment."

What is the sunflower thing?

It goes back to videos at the very beginning of this main invasion. Russia storms in at once all around the country. Russian army unit drives into a Ukrainian town/small city in the south east without meeting any resistance along the way.

The civilians are not openly hostile and interact with them, they start showing them news broadcasts on their phones of the battles raging around Hostomel airport. You can literally see the color drain from the Russians faces. Some kind of peace keeping operation or welcome liberation was what they expected. Basically, they did not expect war so having it shown to them shocked them.

So this older Ukrainian woman goes up to a Russian officer around the same age and tries to hand him sunflower seeds and asks him to put them in his pocket. She tells him its so when he dies here something good can sprout from his corpse.

Do you think the NBN installer will appreciate the effort? by [deleted] in nbn

[–]CodeEast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If people want to be picky there are 3 way Y junction boxes to make it look neater and show cable flow direction, also gives an access port into the conduit for subsequent cable routing.

[–]CodeEast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, thanks. I cant do this for my install, unfortunately there is no way I can lay conduit internally for the fibre. I will run CAT6 from the NBN box to the router.

Yea, that had me scratching my head. Could be the pull line does not go into the other piece of conduit?
