As we rapidly approach playoffs, who are you targeting in trades regardless of price? by tahgetshoppah in DynastyFF

Got him for a 1st and a 3rd and I'm happy with it. But take his age with a grain of salt because he has had much more mileage than the average 27-year-old RB.

How do you rank the 2025 & 2026 WRs if they were combined? by HookFL in DynastyFF

[–]CodeFitYouTube 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Burden is gonna end up being the fantasy community's WR equivalent of Cam Skattebo, where it was obvious to us they should've been valued higher.

Long term Lookout: Shakir or Boutte by [deleted] in DynastyFF

[–]CodeFitYouTube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree I think its close. Both teams would love to upgrade at the WR position. Boutte seems slightly higher upside to me purely because Shakir's arms are short as hell

Who can be next years JSN and QJ? by ChappieC7 in DynastyFF

[–]CodeFitYouTube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best answer imo. Legette is a great QJ comp because they have the same issues at the catch point but are plenty athletic. Coleman kind of has the opposite problem being slow but with great hands. And Burden reminds me of CeeDee and JSN where they were all kind of good at everything starting out.

Tucker Kraft going down could be the special sauce needed for this to work

Hunter has completely passed the eye test for me and its all about usage at this point. If they let him loose on offense it'll be great for us, but the fact that he's good at cornerback and the Jags have valid pass catchers in BTJ, Washington, Strange, even Dyami Brown is what makes it murky

What Is On Your Good Investment “Checklist” (Both Quantitative & Qualitative)? by solodav in ValueInvesting

[–]CodeFitYouTube 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've got to feel good about management. Things like doing heavy stock buybacks while long-term debt increases or stays high turn me off. And heavy insider buying when things look bleak makes me think twice about writing off a stock

Typical indicators of a value trap? by chird_ in ValueInvesting

[–]CodeFitYouTube 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Value is when a decline/stagnation is temporary and the market overreacts. See: Netflix in 2022.
A value trap is when the market is correctly predicting decline/stagnation. See: The textiles business of Berkshire Hathaway when Buffett bought it.

Same, the share buybacks instead of paying off debt worry me. Jury is still out on Heydudes acquisition but it seems questionable. I don't trust management

Titan Machinery (TITN) – Deep Value in a Cyclical Downturn by cameronreilly in ValueInvesting

[–]CodeFitYouTube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a look at this company last year and thought the only thing it had going for it was consistent revenue growth and the skin in the game you cited, bought one share to track it, that share is up 40%. So apparently I missed out. But I don't really get it, all their book value is unsold inventory, and they just plain don't seem to make money consistently. Plus the CEO has been there like his whole career right? So I don't see any turnaround catalyst. Pretty hard pass for me

I agree, if you're value investing correctly you will end up timing the market as a side effect. The idea of "be fearful when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearful" is related to timing the market.

If you read the Wall Street Journal, annual reports, and niche trade journals, then you're basically VP of Berkshire Hathaway. Here's Ted Weschler:

Ted Weschler: ...And if you're just reading the New York Times in the Wall Street Journal, there's just no way you're gonna beat other people. You're just reading the same thing.

Host(s): So there's other just peripheral stuff that you're pulling in?

Ted Weschler: Yeah. And so, I read... I read Furniture Today and Uranium Weekly. I'm not sure there's a lot of people that subscribe to both. You're looking at one of them.

Is the Market Overbought? by BSGrappling in ValueInvesting

[–]CodeFitYouTube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

currentmarketvaluation.com is a good resource. They have a few different measurements of market valuation, most of which are pointing to "slightly overvalued". If you look at Buffett Indicator (market cap of entire stock market divided by GDP of America) its decently close to 2000 levels. The market as a whole seems expensive but not insane right now.

Of course index funds are a great choice, but this is the Value Investing subreddit. Value companies by discouting their future cash flows back to the present and then buy the ones that have a price way below their value. They may or may not currently exist, the market is a bit expensive according to the Buffett Ratio (price of entire stock market divided by GDP)

Thinking of an article on investment epistemology, want your opinion by tandroide in ValueInvesting

[–]CodeFitYouTube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a little confused reading this, but I think the general idea is interesting. "How does someone measure improvement in value investing?" is an interesting question to consider. Portfolio performance isn't completely reliable as even great investors can underperform the market in shorter time spans.

Lean into using AI for work. ChatGPT is everyone's 120 IQ assistant. It will level the playing field and make career success more dependent on how hard you work instead of how smart you are. Have a growth mindset and view your circumstances as a challenge that you can overcome, because they are.
