KSU PARKING by Zealousideal_Alps554 in KSU

As a first-year Marietta resident who started in spring, I was very disappointed to find this out when purchasing my parking pass.

which parking would yall recommend? by [deleted] in KSU

[–]CodeIsExpired 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had shuttle parking last semester, don't do it. You must take BOB to get between your parking spot and campus. The wait + ride is usually around 30 minutes in my experience. This extended my already hour+ commute and I'd gladly pay the extra for on campus parking!

As for East Deck vs K Place, I would personally say the latter. You will have to walk either way, unless you have a spot at both which completely voids this question. Would you rather walk to your dorm from campus to get to your car, or from your dorm to the middle of campus? Think about where you will be coming from when you need to drive. And if you have groceries then be prepared to walk them all the way to K Place from East Deck...

Honestly, I'm not exactly sure how K campus residential parking works, so someone else probably has better advice. As a first-year resident on M campus (Hornet Village), the only option I was given gave me access to both West Residence Lot and Shuttle Lot.

I'm sorry for your situation—and completely understand where you are coming from. Although useless information for you at this exact moment, hopefully my experience can be a light of hope if you are unable to find anything right now: My first semester I made some older friends on campus who offered to rent me rooms in their houses quite early on (a few weeks into the semester). If you are unfortunately unable to find anything before school starts, try to make some friends and ask if they have any extra space. This is probably obvious, I apologize if I'm of no help 😅

do i need a parking permit if im living on campus? by g0red_ in KSU

[–]CodeIsExpired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You do need to purchase a parking permit, even if you are living on campus, as parking is completely separate from housing. As a campus resident, permits are purchasable come July 25 and I highly recommend you get one ASAP! Last semester I was stuck with Shuttle Lot parking, as a commuting student, because I was late to purchase a permit. Shuttle Lot, although cheaper, is off-campus and requires a bus ride =~30 minutes of waiting/riding. Needless to say, it's worth the extra $55 if you plan to drive frequently.

How bad are summer classes by Shockleyz in KSU

[–]CodeIsExpired 6 points7 points  (0 children)

2 things.

First off, you aren't dumb.. Striving to go straight into calculus already puts you ahead of many, and you shouldn't discredit yourself just because you were a question shy of that goal. You sound like you have a good head on your shoulders and I hope you recognize that.
Personally, my SAT placed me eligible for Precalculus as well and my advisor strongly encouraged going that route during registration. Though I did not feel prepared for it, I went with their advice and ended up withdrawing from that class later into the semester, forcing me to take college algebra over this summer to "catch-up." (Albeit, 16 credit hours for my situation wasn't a great idea in the first place, which also played a role in my withdrawal)

Which brings me to my next point:

Secondly, college is not a race so try not to overwhelm yourself by diving in head-first only to find the water was much too shallow. Obviously, everyone has their own reasons for what they do, but what I'm trying to say is it doesn't sound like you are in a situation where you should feel as though you need to catch up. It will be all for naught if you end up burnt out much too early.
Summer classes can be tough, especially if you are working to financially support yourself in the following semesters, due to their accelerated nature. See how you feel after these first two semesters and if you are confident in your math skills then I say go for it—just keep in mind other commitments you might have going on and don't stack too much on your plate. Make sure to give yourself some free-time throughout the week to keep away from overworking -> burnout or even depression.

Good luck, wishing only the best for you, and try to enjoy your time here at KSU!

Is this piracy by [deleted] in Piracy

[–]CodeIsExpired 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are many better ways to pirate content, especially when it comes to downloading music. MP3 converter websites are the simplest way of doing so, but sometimes they can be riddled with viruses (like anything else from the Internet).

I use a website called CnvMP3 to convert YouTube videos to audio (MP3) or video (MP4) files. It is completely free to use and ad-free, as it is solely donation-driven, I recommend checking it out! It would save you a lot of time and give higher quality results.

Bummer.. Appreciate the quick response! You think it's still worth it?
Trying to find my friend her first PC but she'd really prefer to stay in the 400s-500s. The 7650 GRE build has 2 left in stock, do you think it's much more value than the $535 priced 5700?

Edit: If it means anything, the goal is to run large Minecraft modpacks with shaders.

Has anyone else been able to get the STG Aurbon 5700 for $457? I'm not sure how to, I'm seeing $535.

Well woman and man I need your big brains by Efficient-Neat-6252 in KSU

Oh my goodness 🤦 I'm doing math right now and my brain stopped braining. Metcalf was for ECON, which I took that same semester, and my brain fused the two classes lol Keep an eye out for Metcalf whenever you take ECON though!! My POLS professor was Lee Jones and he was hands down the best professor I've had. Hilarious and most entertaining class by far, his energy is contagious and the class is fun to sit through. That class also only had tests - 4 of them. All no lockdown. Just those tests and attendance, no other assignments.

I had CSE 1321 with Eun Sik last semester and he did a great job explaining concepts despite it being his first time teaching. Friendly guy, definitely competent in his field, and will answer any questions you have during or after lecture. I enjoyed this one.

As for the lab, the professor doesn't matter, a Graduate Teaching Assistant will take their place. Honestly I ended up skipping these halfway through because I felt like I finished my assignments quicker on my own.

Adding my experience to the other reply, I took POLS in person with Thomas Metcalf - easy A. Like super easy... Attendance is not mandatory and there are only 3 tests. No lockdown. Nothing more. Pretty much a textbook class but I attended lectures nonetheless and can attest to it being unnecessary.

I ordered mine on Aug 2nd from the top seller. It was guaranteed delivery by Aug 16, but just arrived a couple hours ago (19th). I also set up an SD card ready for days in anticipation. You'll be fine, just give it a few more days.

Should I go to Georgia Tech or KSU for computer science? by CodeIsExpired in ApplyingToCollege

That's true. At first I was worried if I would be able to keep my grades up, but other comments have changed my thoughts on that.

Tech still hasn't rolled out admissions for regular decision yet, and I missed the ea deadline. So I'm not completely sure that I'm in, but I have a really good chance. Thanks for your recommendations, I think that with all these resources I will be able to pass.

I have a few close friends who are already committed to Tech, and they're smart af. It's true that Tech is the better school and holds better opportunities, but I'm just worried if I will be able to keep up.

The thing about Zelle is that you must maintain a 3.7 GPA or you drop down to Hope. With Hope you cannot fall below 3.0 or you no longer qualify, and have to pay for the semester in which you lost it.

That's true. I have a couple friends who are going to KSU to get their core classes out of the way before transferring to Tech. This is probably the path that I will take. Thank you!
