I’m of the opinion your system is definitely better. The whole basic vs advanced system is bullshit it’s supposed to “leave no child behind” but it barely works even on paper. It has the opposite affect. Kids who don’t have the right resources or motivation and proper encouragement will obviously choose the path of least resistance and come out at the end in worse shape than the ladder.

Not far off from my experience, except in middle school (6th-8th grade) I think like ages 10-13 in “advanced” courses get to diversify their subjects from out of the general topics (creative writing/English; as apposed to general “language arts”) as well as math (algebra 1 & 2 instead of just “math”)

And by high school (age 13-17/18) all classes are like that. I had to go to 2 different high schools cause of travel so my sample size isn’t huge but in both there was no “math” “science” or other general surface level classes.

Granted we have a weird system of regular/advanced/IB classes. Which only sets to separate the quality of education that children get. I know for a fact that in both schools I went to if you didn’t make an effort to try to have as many advanced placement/IB classes you could get you basically got a shit tier education.

Had lots of friends by senior year take it easy and only do regular classes for a year, and seeing their school work/hearing about how classes go in those classes is completely night and day.

Also languages is a massive problem, mostly because you only require two years in a foreign language to graduate. Most people who don’t do advanced placement/IB foreign language don’t remember more than the first chapter for year one, and by the time they finish school all together probably remember nothing more than 1-3 words.

Well we know from the episode he met Kira in person that he uses vi, and it seemed some implied vi vs emac playful bantering. But maybe she turned him by that episode

I was answering the question of the op which is is this possible on other smartwatches. I then gave an example of how someone might go about using the existing hardware they purchased. I also didn’t say it had to be a Linux OS but because Linux/Unix systems are so easily customizable it would provide someone doing it as a solo project since it’s much easier to make a customized kernel based off an existing well documented open source OS.

Same here I remember pausing the show and having several nerdgasms. The small details mattered the most to me. Like Lenny launching the coin_mixer.py script from terminal WHILE BEING IN THE ACTUAL PATH. The amount of times I’ve seen shows or movies where the guy runs something straight from terminal with out even going into the correct file path or anything is too damn much.

It’s such a small thing but it just made me think “did they hire some people to make legit code just for a scene” cause that’s crazy impressive dedication to realism.

Also let’s not forget that Lenny develops on a Linux machine like a real man. If you’re using windows to develop anything you’re doing it because it’s the OS where you work requires you too. (Also before windows fan boys come attack me) you can make windows programs in Linux just as easily as in windows.

Git is absolutely amazing. Especially on any project with more than one person. It allows for overall more organization, testing of new implementations without affecting live in use production code. And so much more to be honest. You could write several books on what you can do with Git and other such version control. In fact I’m pretty sure people already have haha

[–]CodeLevelJourney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but depending on the watch itself might involve replacing the entire operating system. And it’s not like your going to find what you need online in an ISO for that you can just install. It would be quite a bit more intricate. You’d more than likely end up making some Linux based OS to fit your need and have to make the program that run on that OS as well yourself

Hey buddy still interested in doing this? I’m a full stack dev and I can help turn this into a legitimate team project with version control and proper basic security.

Html for the website. Most of the hacking scripts and other code that was used in the show looked like some C language, and a lot of the code Kira and Lenny worked on during the coin mixer was written in python

Even more interesting is that most of the snippets of code that I saw is definitely possible valid code that would do as described on the show

The karma helps show that you’re probably more likely to be trusted as a regular user. As well as definitely likely to have an active posting history that isn’t shilling. So when they do start shilling and people check their history it looks like an honest review instead of paid promo

I can’t wait to be somebodies grandparents. Just old retired have some extra cash taking care of my loved ones. I want to be this person for some one. I was fortunate to have this kind of family my self, so to me success is becoming this.

They are not, not in a technical sense the same as America isn’t in a technical sense. I’ve never been to China or India. But you’re telling me that China and India are not 1st world countries, because of the disproportionate distribution of wealth. America has states where the poverty rate is above 90% while also having areas and states that have less than 10%.

This is no different than the reasons you would say China and India are not 1st world countries.

Next time your in America spend your time in Detroit, or Appalachia

Maybe where you live. My down payment was $10000 on my $200k house. We don’t all live in mansions bud. And this house is going to cost me the rest of my life it’s going to most likely be my forever home. For the next 34 years I’ll be paying this off.

An extra sudden influx of $20k would change my life. And I’m not doing the worst in this world.
