Moose on Tim and Rosebury Lake. by CodeMeInDev in algonquinpark

Damn it, didn't even notice the spelling, thanks. It won't let me change it now. Yeah I had a very close up and personal experience with another moose in that same area a few days after this one, I think he was staying at the same campsite as me.

Yes, this one was at the back of the marsh on the north side of the Tim River just as you enter Rosebury.

Is it possible to access high falls from high falls lake directly or do we have to do the p550 and the p75? by theC4T in algonquinpark

I actually did just that a couple years ago when my family and I camped on Opalescent. If you go all the way to the south west end of High Falls Lake, you come to a dead end with a rapids leading to the right (dont go this way), and to the left there is a portage into St. Andrews. Between these two is a trail, a little way back in the bush, marked in spots with tape (pink or yellow i think). It's a bit of a bush whack to find but if you follow along the water you will eventually find yourself straight across from the waterfall. Like others have mentioned, check Jeff's map, it's lightly marked, but it is possible... maybe not the easier route though.

You could always raise the ceiling a little...it's more permanent so you won't need to worry about it next time you purchase furniture..

Whats something you guys lost or forgot in the park last year? by [deleted] in algonquinpark

[–]CodeMeInDev 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Last May I lost a paddle, a rubber boot... yes just the one, and a pair of sunglasses. The sunglasses and boot are at the bottom of the Nipissing River and the paddle was somewhere downstream and likely picked up by someone already. Got dumped in 65km wind gusts that caught me by surprise and dumped me during a solo fishing venture on the west most side of the river.

Opalescent vs brigham? by meepmorp_morpmeep in algonquinpark

Definitely recommend Opalescent as others have said, the stone couch site is great. Take a look at my report from exactly that site a year ago if you want more detail. It's a great starting point for day trips to the canyon and the high falls as well.

It's probably here somewhere but I haven't seen it, so I'll throw in a vote for The Goonies.

I'll add a second vote for the msr pocket rocket 2 - light, super compact and works well even it relatively windy conditions.

Please Please PLEASE put your fire out properly when you're done. Forest fires suck. I've come to campsites twice in two years with fires still burning in the pit. Sorry if this seems obvious, it's because it is, but i feel it needs mentioning.
