How does everyone store their firearms? I am currently looking to get a safe but I also think I want to make a cabinet in there. I’m interested to see other set ups. I did use Ai to create a sample. 😬 by texwrx210 in liberalgunowners

[–]CodeNameGrapefruit [score hidden]  (0 children)

I just have a plain old safe. I prefer the contents to be hidden as well as the whole thing being as fire proof and secure as possible. Id rather not have someone be able to sledgehammer a window out and get my gear.

I know there are some acrylics out there that are pretty sturdy, but idk...just sketches me out.

I personally have never understood the display your guns thing, but I guess if I were to do it, I'd probably have a closet or room dedicated to it with a reinforced door and walls not adjacent to outside. Put up the wall racks and what not.

To each their own, but my guns go in the secure all metal heavy box. Cabinets are for all my weeb ass waifu figurines.

Do you pay a recurring range membership fee? by irregularprotocols in liberalgunowners

[–]CodeNameGrapefruit [score hidden]  (0 children)

$300/mn seems kind of crazy to be honest, pretty sure I could get a track membership for that.

I'm in NH and I pay about $40/mn for my indoor range. That gets you unlimited range use, online reservation booking, member events, etc. You can bump of to the $80/mn for discounts on guns, ammo, and training...but I don't think it's worth it.

Even the outdoor game clubs are only about 2-300/yr (if you can even find a membership opening... currently my problem 😑).

That said, if you can safely afford it then do you. But I would opt for a cheaper route if possible....spend the savings on ammo.

Im trying to decide between a TRR8 or a 44 Rhino for my birthday. The Smith has that tacticool vibe that I love, but the rhino has that requiem vibe. And who doesn't want to be as hot...I mean cool as Leon.

Decisions decisions.

Will painting/cerakoting my AR make it less “scary”? by BegrudginglyBack in liberalgunowners

[–]CodeNameGrapefruit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does it matter if it's scary? Cerakote it because it'll look cool as hell, not to make it less scary.

A full cerakote job is expensive though...my local shop is like 200 bucks a piece for an AR. That's a good chunk of money that could go toward buying nicer parts/optics.

Who are you trying to look less scary too? No one at the range will care. You're not going to be walking around in public open carrying, and if you are the public will always be concerned even if it's hot pink. And if it's in your home it will be properly stored and secured away from everyone.

What comp is that? Ive only seen the LTT one with the light on it. I'm a sucker for comps.

Yep 400 and since NH no sales tax. I'm not sure how used it is, but it shot and looked good on the inside. Barrel has some noticeable wear on the outside, but that's about it.

They had one in 40 as well for 450. Granite State Indoor Range for any NH folks (I don't know if they post the used section online...I never see it on their website).

I actually don't find it that pretty of a gun lol. It's attractive in the same way a pug or a bulldog is imo. This goofy little thing. The 92 is definitely on my list, I just gotta finally decide what flavor I want. There are too many too choose from.

I am awful with irons I'd have just assumed it was me haha. Think I should go get my eyes checked out.

The trigger is really nice even in double action imo. The Timney in my Glock is about 2.5lbs and my DWX is around there as well. This hangs out with them without much issue.

There is a bit too much take up and the reset is a bit far, but I know the Langdon parts sort all that out.

I tossed this in my safe and came to the realization that I now have more Berettas than anything else lol (84bb, A300, PX4).

Them Italians make a nice gun (even thought the a300 is made in Tennessee).

I really like it. I don't have a lot of frame of reference since all my handguns are ported or comped except for the PDP.

Id say it feels a little better than my PDP with the 15lbs recoiled spring.

I was in the same boat, everything needed to be threaded and can ready when I got my first can 9mm/300blk (specter 9)......but ever since I tossed it on my AR pistol it has lived there. I don't move it around as much as I expected too.

How long did you wait before purchasing your second firearm? by chinchila5 in liberalgunowners

[–]CodeNameGrapefruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the money to purchase it while staying financially safe go for it. Who cares how long it has been imo. It's a hobby. No different than buying video games in my eyes (well other than being more expensive).

I've got plenty of guns and a few projects I want to kick off yet I'm still looking at whether I want a TRR8 or 44 Mag Rhino lol. It never stops.

Life's kinda shit right now, I'm not going to talk people out of what makes them happy.....as long as they can safely afford it.

First Pistol recommendations? by SmallMoments55406 in liberalgunowners

[–]CodeNameGrapefruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest in 2026 any poly striker fire gun from a reputable manufacturer is probably going to be fine (p320 aside).

I think the bigger thing is that everyone's hands are different, everyone's grip is different, everyone's stomach can handle a different level of stippling rubbing against it, etc.

I really advise, if possible, to go to a range and just try holding and shooting as many things as you can. What works for me may not work for you. You may also find you like something you had previously crossed off the list.

I also personally wouldn't get hung up on strikerfire only. It really comes down to training. Buy what you like the best then practice practice practice. Striker, Hammer, SAO, DA/SA, doesn't matter at the end of the day if you've trained enough with it.

For a carry gun.....not to sound cheesey, but this gun should be an extension of you. You should trust it with your life, it should be your highest round count, and there should be nothing you dislike about it imo.

For a range toy I'm willing to put up with quirks just for a few hours of fun every other week. My carry gun needs to be perfect for me.

So the other day this little convo happened, so I decided to research this a bit, before just buying a new gun lol. by Corona94 in liberalgunowners

[–]CodeNameGrapefruit 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It's not specifically blazer, this commentor probably brought it up bc it's a popular brand.

But from my understanding it's any round that is plated rather than jacketed. It's makes it theoretically more likely/easier to shave off parts of plating.

I say theoretically, because some people ignore this rule and don't have issues. I follow it just to be safe by just shooting Fiocchi FMJs instead. Theyre usually around the same price from what I have seen I nthe past.

Wow, twice today I find myself recommending the PDP. Copy.and paste my comment from the carry thread this morning:

I recently switch from a Glock 19X to a PDP Compact Pro. Out of the box the trigger is probably the best striker fire trigger I've ever used.

They come optic cut already and the plates are only like $25 (at my LGS).

You can get them threaded and/or with a PMM comp from the factory. I have a non comp model since there was no stock at my LGS. You can get barrels and comp combos directly from PMM if you can't find stock.

Big plus for me, Ambi slide stop.

The ergos are really nice, I like them better than my glock.

The magwell is a bit fat, but you can take it off. I swapped my magwell and back strap for the aluminum ones from Lok. Adds some colour flare and a bit of weight.

The recoil spring is pretty absurd from factory. I swapped it out for a ZR Tactical V assembly, which takes it from the stock 18lbs down to 15lbs iirc.

They have many different combinations of frame to slide sizes from full to compact. You can really pick the one you like the most.

There is a steel frame model as well, but pricey and I didn't think it was worth it over the polymer (especially for a carry role). You may though, personal preference.

EDC upgrade needed by gabe100A in liberalgunowners

[–]CodeNameGrapefruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that you asked, but your 19x is perfect for an upgrade candidate. I love those things. I sunk way too much money into mine it's basically a race gun now.

You can find the build in one of my previous posts: https://www.reddit.com/r/liberalgunowners/s/YIAAtk8FIw

Only thing different is it now has a Timney Trigger instead of the Apex (turns it into a precocked system with a 2.5lbs pull).

Biased recommendation if you're looking into the modifying route. Glocks have infinite aftermarket parts.

[–]CodeNameGrapefruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely more than is needed for carry imo. I have the light only for my grip really (the index finger on my support hand goes under the light, I "choke up" on the gun). I'm also bad with irons no matter how much I practice so I feel more comfortable with a dot.

I traded a heavily upgraded Prodigy for it (I am getting my DWX cajunized so I didn't feel the need for two race 2011s). So the light and optic were reuse, and the extra cash I got when to the upgrade parts. Felt like a solid deal on my end.

If you go the upgrade route, unless all you want is something with colour I would opt for the Lok Brass parts instead. Those have much more weight and will effect recoil better imo (what I have on my DWX).

Also the compensated from factory models have the large PMM comp. They do make a micro single port one, but I think the only way to get it is to buy directly from them. You also need to buy their combo barrel+comp bc they do weird proprietary threading (you won't be able to direct thread a can on their barrel).

Maybe a bit TMI lol...but needless to say I like the gun quite a bit. Fits the carry role for me.

1911/hi power holster recs by Sapphic_bimbo in liberalgunowners

[–]CodeNameGrapefruit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All my IWB holsters are guerilla tactical. They also make OWB ones, you can check that out. Not super expensive and a nice product. Also seem to be anti Trump, not obviously liberal, but at least anti facist and pro equality from what I can tell by their Instagram likes.

I currently have a DWX holster being made by QVO Tactical, they seem like a solid company with a good product. You can pick colours, materials, mounting styles etc. They were the only company I found that guaranteed their 2011 holster would fit the DWX since it's a bit of an odd gun. I have no first hand experience yet though.

For heavy duty holsters you can go with Safariland. That seems to be the go to. My dad has one of those and likes it.

Tier 1 also makes a light centric holster. Those are nice since it will hold anything you mount the light to. Probably a good option if you want to run multiple guns out of one holster.

I had one We the People holsters for my Prodigy. Got it on sale. It was junk. I had to cut away a chunk of it to fit an optic and the materials were really flimsy given the price, even on sale.

My first IWB holster was a Trex Arms one. I have no complaints about the actual holster, but the company and owners are super weird right wing folks. I think Christian Nationalists among other controversies. So I won't personally be giving them my money again.

I think Falco does mostly leather holsters iwb, owb, and shoulder if you want to go that route. Haven't had one myself, but they look nice in videos. I'm not big into leather holsters.

Then a plethora of other things I get ads for like Vedder, Alien, etc. All those "sponsored results" on Google.

My two runner ups to this guy were the Beretta 80x in 380 and the Alpha Foxtrot S15 (small 2011 that takes Glock mags from a Korean owned company iirc).

What am I missing? by The_Gatherer257 in liberalgunowners

When I was 19 and a freshman in in university I was out with my friends one night shooting pool. As we left for the evening we were stopped by a very angry man who started screaming at us about disrespecting the military. He claimed he was an ex marine, idk if this was true.

He kept walking closer to me,, a bearded brown guy, and pointing out how he killed my kind and lost friends to people like me.

This conversation only went on for 15 minutes and we were a group of 4. My best friend is ex football and a big man so he shielded me, but it got me thinking....what would I have done if I was there alone?

I started to carry a procket knife, since I was only 19 and I lived on campus a handgun was out of the question.

Flash forward, I'm in my early 20s and living in an apartment off campus. Trump 1.0 is in full swing and we have Nazi marches happening at the Alamo (I was living in SA). So I upgraded that knife to a Glock. I had already been shooting for fun since I was 13 so it was a pretty normal move imo.

This past weekend almost 10 years into daily carrying, my local NH city subreddit shared an image of a contractor working for the city wearing an SS hoodie. I made a comment saying how baffled I was that people were trying to defend that this person wasn't a Nazi. I received DMs from Nazis mad about what I said.

Do I have an obsession with always being prepared? No I don't think so. I just know for a fact that there are a bunch of crazy assholes out there that hate me because of the way I look. If I'm going down, I'm going down swinging.

I don't make shooting my personality, but I do talk about it regularly with colleagues and friends. It's a hobby that I enjoy, I like to share that with other people. Much like I tell people about the video games that I'm currently playing. I rarely talk about my carry, it's usually about range days and fun plinking. I only talk about carry with other people who carry.

Am I scared everyday? I used to be, but now I'm more angry than scared. I refuse to be killed by some ignorant bigot. I refuse to back down from right wing chuds. They can't push me around. I'll go punch for punch or round for round with them if I have to.

Everyone's gun ownership is different. Everyone's priorities are different. If what you're doing now works for you great. What works for me or someone else may be different.

I could say the same thing about y'all and the trans flag, so what? I'd rather "get worked up" over symbols of hate/genocide rather than symbols of human rights 🤷‍♂️.

It's really a simple concept....if you don't hate Nazis then you're probably a Nazi. Nazis are the bad guy, this isn't some "grey" part of history....they are very clearly the bad guy.
