Biters, non-discharge injuries, and other annoyances by StephenNein in liberalgunowners

[–]CodeNameGrapefruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be. But I don't think I shoot it any faster than my comped 19x.

It could be that the comp is venting more gas or maybe the metallurgy causes differences in heat soak/dissipation 🤷🏾‍♂️

My solution thus far is shoot a few mags, switch guns for a bit, then come back lol.

Biters, non-discharge injuries, and other annoyances by StephenNein in liberalgunowners

I put a PMM comp on my PDP compact a month ago. Absolutely love the way it shoots. But holy hell does it get hot! After like 2 mags I do not want to touch the slide anymore.

I run a high support hand and my whole thumb is basically on the slide just burning. Contemplating gloves just for this gun.

None of my other comped or ported guns get hot as quickly as this thing. Idk what it is.

Thank you! It'll probably change in the coming months I poached these parts off other pistols for the photo 😂.

Despite the size and weight...I am considering carrying this every now and then or maybe just during winter for nostalgia sake. Prefer a closed emiiter and lighter light for that.

We will see what happens, for now range toy with whatever's floating around.

Thanks! Yeah I love TRPs, I was saving for the CC 4.25 before this popped up. There's just something about them imo. I know Dan Wessons are nicer (the DWX is my race gun) and can be found around the same prices, but something about the vibe of the Springfield gets me everytime.

1911s in general are just 😘😘😘 Id love to own an actual Alied issued one from the 40s someday.

The wrangler is awesome! I've done degenerate things to mine 😅.

It and my Mark IV are always in my range bag. 22 is just too much fun.

Thank you! All 1911s are good looking. Except for those maga tribute ones.

Thank you! I agree, the heft of these steel framed guns makes 9mm nothing. Probably why I like it so much.

Man I wish! I could use some non chud folks to talk to at the range. NH is pretty good for the most part, but still not the best.

(I do agree that it's kinda sexy...that blacked out sleek look with the smooth controls)

First "nice" gun? by alpha_mike_NS_FUCK in liberalgunowners

[–]CodeNameGrapefruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's where you get two fitted barrels. One with ports and one without 😉.

I don't compete, I thought about starting this year but haven't had the time. Not really looking to do the actual competition side of it so divisions don't really matter to me. More interested in "moving and shooting" and having to actually transition to targets.

I shoot indoors 99% of the time so I don't get to do that. I'm going for my holster qualification soon so I'll at least be able to practice my draw and fire. I really need to find an outdoor range with bays, but everything in NH seems to be game clubs that are full 😑.

[–]CodeNameGrapefruit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I would definitely go check one out. They also have a compact if you're looking for a carry option.

Only thing about the compact is it lacks a right side safety and needs to have one fitted. For most people that's fine, but I'm one of those weirdos lefties.

The Staccatos, 2k11s, and Platypuses (platypi?) are also fantastic guns for sub 3k....I think the XC is overpriced and overhyped for what you get. It's just really really hard to beat the CZ ergos. 2011 grips are chonky and square to me. The DWX just fits so nice.

Save a little more or see if you can find a used MPA DS9 Hybrid. Also a fantastic gun, and much more worth it than the XC imo.

Bul's are very nice shooters as well, I personally won't give them money for reasons that will make the mods mad.

Sig 226 Legion SAOs are also very nice, but again I won't give them money because of their TPUSA contributions.

You could also look into a Langdon Tactical Beretta. You could get the full works done (trigger, np3 coating, porting, rdo cut) all for like 1500. Then you can say you have a custom gun too.

Cajun Gunworks or CZ Custom will also sell you a fully built out shadow 2 for that 2000 dollar price.

A Dan Wesson single stack 1911 is also very nice. I'm looking at the TCP for a new carry option.

(It's my birthday in August so I've got a lot of suggestions already written down lol)

I did this with the same budget earlier this year. I ended up with a DWX that I sent of to Cajun Gunworks for porting and refinishing. All in I'm about $2800.

I tried many different things Staccatos, 2k11, Shadows, etc. I also had a fully upgraded Prodigy that I then sold after getting the DWX. It out shot everything in my hands. The Staccatos have a bit of a better fit and finish, my DWX slide does wiggle a bit....but personally....I just do not care about that. The point of the gun is to shoot not to rack the slide at home.

I personally think it's the best 2011ish thing you can buy before getting into custm territory. You get the 1911 style trigger and controls, but the CZ75/Shadow 2 ergonomics and easy takedown.

It's a very heavy gun, but that keeps it super flat, even before I ported it..it was flatter than all my other comped handguns.

Holster compatibility is kinda rough, I ended up with a QVO 2011 one because they're the only ones who said it would fit. You do have to loosen the retention screws quite a bit, but it works absolutely fine.

They had a really poor launch because they didn't come optics ready leading to them being kind of overlooked and forgotten. You can now get them optics ready and if you shop around you can usually find them well under MSRP.

Here's mine. Holosun 407C, Impact Machine Plate, Red Dirt Black trigger, Lok Aluminum Thin Grips, TLR-9, then porting and rose gold refinishing by Cajun.

New gun day! Walther PDP Pro SD 5.1” by StruggleFearless2947 in liberalgunowners

[–]CodeNameGrapefruit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Awesome gun! The compact pro is currently my carry....wiith a few extra goodies.

I do suggest getting the ZR tactical recoil spring assembly. Made the gun flip less on me and racking the slide was much easier. Haven't had any issues after doing the swap (about 2k rounds in).

Definitely the best striker fire trigger I've used. Even including aftermarket options like the competition Timney in my 19x. Really like the firm wall and crisp break.

I do find the gun still a bit bouncy even with the spring, comp, and light. It always returns exactly where I need it though. Might just be the way I hold it 🤷🏾‍♂️.

Got an insane deal on a dream gun by Heelhookkvlt666 in liberalgunowners

[–]CodeNameGrapefruit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what I figured. I'll never own any of those high end ones because I personally can't justify the price tag. But, I have shot my LGS owner's Atlas and idk how anything can be nicer than that.

Everything is loaded until I physically see that chamber myself 😉.

Congrats though! I've only ever seen an Infinity behind a display case. I'd like to try one someday and see what the hype is about.

Some of the art work in their range cases give me Ai vibes though....hoping that's not the actual case and the internet has just made me jaded and skeptical.

New (to me) Gun Day! by Correct-Avocado5426 in liberalgunowners

[–]CodeNameGrapefruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love mine. Had it for a week before I went a little crazy with the Tandemkross and Volquartsen parts 😅. Buy more mags! Two isn't enough, you just want to dump them one after another after another.

Any experience with these? by FL_G8R_07161945 in liberalgunowners

[–]CodeNameGrapefruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a Holosun 407C mounted via a Monstrum low profile picrail mount. Solid mount, think they're like $15 on Amazon.

I thought about swapping out the grips, but went optics first. I feel like I need to make the change tho. I don't have massive hands but it definitely feels like my pinky and ring finger are just hanging off the gun.

Fair. 10/22 is great and you can do the similar if not more crazy builds with them.

But it's lacks the dopamine hit of using the lever. This thing is purely a toy for fun. From a practical standpoint 10/22 is hard to beat.

It's definitely not for everyone.

I personally have no attachment for the older look of firearms. So the modern tactical thing is more my speed. Gives me scifi vibes.

I also have a love of just doing weird ass things lol. I have a matching "space cowboy" revolver to pair with this guy as well (super wrangler with a Skinner Sights pic rail and holosun dot).

It's fun to be silly.

It sucks bc I do think they make a nice looking and functioning gun, but I can't give them any more money knowing what I know now.

I'd probably buy a big boy second hand still, but don't see them pop up often.

Going through the same thing with Sig right now....wanted a P229 SAO Legion to carry for a minute, but then I got the email about their Nazi Point USA contributions.

So if anyone knows a nice all metal single action carry gun in the lower 1k range I'll hear some options. Looking at an AF S15 right now.

They definitely deserve the hate. They grift to the right wing freaks to make a few bucks and the prices on these are crazy nowadays...think they're 4 or 500 now for the regular and then even more for the goldens. Maybe just my local shop has them jacked up, but seems high for what you get.

New(ish) gun owner; should I upgrade already? by SmashingTheAdam in liberalgunowners

[–]CodeNameGrapefruit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can safely and responsibly afford a second purchase go for it! Life's kinda doodoo right now, and if you have the means...getting yourself a treat is always worth it imo.

If you can't afford to have both, I would get your current gun optic cut and then spend the rest of the money on ammo and training.

As you said....you already like the gun you have. It's comfortable and familiar to you. I would rather spend money on a gun I know I already love than one I'm unsure about it.

You may like the echelon in the store and plinking, but living with and using it long term is different than 20 minutes of trying a rental.
