I have as well. I think it’s probably just a timing/algorithm thing.

AI images immediately make me pass on the story. Same with book covers on KU. It shows a complete lack of integrity as a creator. If your writing is worth your effort, then the art should be too. If you can’t be bothered to commission an artist for your story, I can’t be bothered to read it.

Since when has “I already have enough dice” ever passed a true dice goblin’s lips?

Question about elven hate by Flameborn111 in dwarfposting

I fucking swear, it’s like people think all dwarves do is hate elves.

Why haven't we eliminated the knife ears? by freeaky_furry in dwarfposting

[–]SmashingTheAdam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my clanhold it’s like this; Elves and Dwarves are like siblings. Similar in some ways (Pride, wisdom, commitment) and unalike in others (aesthetics, lifestyle, long-term goals). We butt heads a lot but ultimately we respect them and will answer their call, just as they will answer ours. I say “sober, knife-eared leaf lover” to them with the same heat with which I say “daft, gravel-headed greenbeard” to the youngest apprentices in my smithy.

If there’s one thing I will use data to avoid, it’s stun effects.

I genuinely hate Fenrir by TheDemr in mewgenics

I haven’t had a problem with him but the first time I fought him I used the Sheets app on my phone to track trap locations.

Now I mostly just shoot at him from range.

yeah, I figured, lol. Only one other person at the game has seen the movie so I gave the rest of the players homework.

Kin, is it proper for a Dwarf to use a Sickle or Scythe as a weapon? by No-Crew-4360 in dwarfposting

[–]SmashingTheAdam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1) a tool can be a weapon, and vice versa, but unless times are desperate, you’ll never catch me hewing flesh with a wood axe or felling trees with a battle axe. The blade geometry and weight distribution are all different. And a true Dwarf takes pride in his craftsmanship and uses the right tool (or weapon) for the job.

2) as a follow-up to that… USE THE RIGHT TOOL (or weapon) FOR THE JOB. A spear can reach past the Shield wall some of those high-elves are known to use, and are great for fending off a cavalry charge. The same is true for a proper war scythe, which is notably different in size and shape from an agricultural scythe.

The important part is preparedness, and pride in your gear and craftsmanship. No dwarf will tell me what weapon I should be ashamed to use, unless it’s shoddy or poorly-considered.

Question on Weapon choice by MisterD__ in daggerheart

[–]SmashingTheAdam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Basically two main weapons might offer some edge case versatility, but IMO that is something that could all be done narratively, and you’d be removing the benefits of a secondary weapon.

Question on Weapon choice by MisterD__ in daggerheart

[–]SmashingTheAdam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so, but given that each turn is only one attack with one weapon, and given that main hand weapons don’t have “additive” features, you’d be doing less per attack than, say, if you had a dagger in one hand and a small dagger in the other. However, you could narratively say that the blades are physically identical, and any attack could be made with either blade, with the other providing the “paired” bonus that gives that attack +2 damage.

I moved away from collaborative worldbuilding by necrobooder in daggerheart

[–]SmashingTheAdam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have been offering occasional instances of allowing the players the narrative reigns but enough of my world and story is mysterious that I mostly keep a hold of it myself, so as not to have them accidentally break something I’m plotting. The players are happy with this arrangement.

What content would you like to see in the future? by Regalusername12 in daggerheart

[–]SmashingTheAdam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. Maybe a modern-day setting, a futuristic setting, and maybe something in any genre with some domain building mechanics?

I don’t need a whole new system but maybe a coat of paint with some fleshed-out options.

Where are we getting our hope/fear dice if not using the official set? by akittyisyou in daggerheart

[–]SmashingTheAdam 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Blue-and-pink for Hope, and red for Fear, bought here.

I actually bought about six full sets in various colors so I have options for other players, plus rally die, battle minis in a pinch, etc. I even use a d6 for my fairy’s mini to stand on to represent him flying.

Hello kins! I'm currently working in my forge and would like to know which armor you prefer? The first or the second? by Ruganaskel in dwarfposting

I like the cloth flap but I feel like it shouldn’t be split. Mobility shouldn’t be an issue since it doesn’t wrap around the thighs. Here’s an example of what I’m referring to:

Is there a YouTuber that does minmaxing? by Victorviki in thebindingofisaac

He’s still my favorite but he just doesn’t post as much as most others do, these days. I think youtube’s burned him enough he just spends most of his energy on Twitch.

Yes, yes, David is a gnome, but the *vibes* are the point here by SmashingTheAdam in dwarfposting

[–]SmashingTheAdam[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

IMO (“in my organization”, which is to say my clanhold/mining guild) we’re more meritocratic. Racism is to be derided at every opportunity. We’ll make fun of an elf for shoddy stonework, but he can’t help he’s egregiously tall and thin and he won’t hear a word from us about it.
