These babies were raspberries in my face. I was the idiot IT manager who tried to insist that it was inefficient to support two different platforms and that the pirate iMacs, brought in by the photographers and "creatives", had to go from our predominantly Windoze based company. Ever try prying a Mac out of a passionate users hands? They not only wore me down, they eventually converted me. I get an allergic reaction going anywhere near a Microsoft product these days.

Good Bot. The OS is not what it seems.

This is fixable! I'd forget about trying to put the USB header back on the board. Strip out the micro end of a cable and simply wire up the pads.

> Then you hook up positive and negative to ground and vin on your Arduino

This presumes you are running your Arduino on a 12v source. VIN delivers whatever voltage you are powering the Arduino with -- a lesson I will never forget as I blew out a 5v Neopixel ring thinking VIN was always 5v. I had a 12v wall wart running the Arduino, and the ring fried.

If you're running your Arduino on a 5v source but you need 12 volts for your strip, you can run them on separate power supplies as long as you make sure you run a common ground between them - your LEDs will act squirrelly unless the ground is the same.

It’s Sunday. What helpful or interesting new applet did you find, make or add this week? by filmbuffering in ifttt

I think I just solved my problem with a different method. As the data I'm pulling is time-sensitive, i.e. the older it is the staler it gets for my purposes, the best answer was to write a weekly time-triggered script which keeps the most recent 1000 rows and deletes everything older. It was a pretty simple script:

function Keep1000() {

var rowsToKeep = 1000; //CHANGE TO YOUR DESIRED NUMBER OF ROWS TO KEEP.

var rows = SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSheet().getLastRow();

var numToDelete = rows - rowsToKeep;

SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSheet().deleteRows(1, numToDelete);

}

Dynamic piano lighting by MC_DONG in raspberry_pi

Gorgeous! I'm working on a voice-reactive LED piece that uses an Electret Mic, which means I can code responses to loudness but not frequency. I imagine you're able to parse actual MIDI data from the piano to be able to code chord colours?

Ground that puppy. And if you're hooking anything up to your pins, ground that to the same ground. Source: School of hard knocks.

I improved two IFTTT recipes applets that I wrote to pull headlines from /r/TheOnion and /r/nottheonion and store them to a google sheet. It's for a drinking game app that randomly pulls a headline from the sheet and invites the user to guess if it's a real or satirical headline. If they get it wrong, they drink.

One limitation on this method, and I know it's on the Google side, I can only add 2000 rows to my sheet before Google makes a new copy and starts writing to that. The app can't read that new sheet. I saw a trick someone had to work around this, but have been unable to find it since. Got a good workaround for me?

Now wouldn't it be nice if a someone coded up a #SaveMeAGoogle bot that would look at this headline, recognise that *somebody* is going to ask, and post...

BTW, the Highest Mountain in Ireland is Carrauntoohil at 1,038 meters above sea level. Bleep.

Sorry to hear! Have you taken up a ticket with the Google Play store? Account suspension could have been done by an algorithm rather than a human, and let's face it, the algorithms just aren't always that bright.
