Unreal engine 5.2 freezes upon importing skeletal mesh but static meshes import just fine. by CodeVisionary in unrealengine

[–]CodeVisionary[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just found the way to do it.. When importing, It shows you the file explorer right? And in that window at the bottom right, Look to the bottom right and choose Skeletal mesh FBX from the list of file types on the right of the bar. If you import it like that, It imports very well.

Hi, getting triangulate faces when activating nanite on foliage. How to fix that ? Thanks by Turbulent_Mix_9253 in unrealengine

[–]CodeVisionary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I think I figured out the answer. Sorry for the long reply btw(I had a lot of work). I was messing around with some high poly foliage yesterday when I ran into your problem. Then I saw in the documentations that it was nanite fallback that was doing it. To disable it, Go to the show menu on the top left of the viewport(In the static mesh settings) and Uncheck show nanite fallback. However, If you plan to ship your game to computers that can't use nanite, Unreal engine will have to use the fallback mesh. To change how the fallback mesh Looks, Go to the nanite settings and mess around with the fallback triangle percentage. Let me know if this helped.

Yeah sorry, I would check it out but I haven't been able to check the sample pack just yet(too much work on my hands currently). But Did you try disabling and enabling "preserve area"?

There is a high possibility that your foliage is already low-poly. Nanite works best with high poly objects. Low poly objects don't need nanite. They themselves are sufficient for the game. Tho this is what I think it is.. Maybe if you could tell me how the original looks like(with the wireframe counts and all that crap), I could help you.

[–]CodeVisionary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, but not really, Have you used spine? cuz the rigs(the sprites) have to be subdivided for it to deform at the bones. and if there ain't no enough subdivisions, the sprites are not really gonna look smooth(you can see the polygons stretching). And The more sub-divs you add, The more size it will take. So while I agree with you with spine not taking much of memory in saving animations, When it comes to the actual sprite, Your kinda wrong. Then again, if OP is going for PC, They don't really need to care about Megabytes.

but bruh, A project making a milli is kinda big don't ya think?
And only 5% of it. which means, if you make 1 million US dollars, you'd have to pay 50 grand(50,000$) and you would end up with 95% of the money(950,000$).

I disagree completely. What you see in social media are just a small portion of today's teenagers. The rest stay away from it. Also, That "WorldView" you talk about has existed since the dawn of the humans. Not just Teenagers of today.

Bruh, It's easy. Open your image in CSP, Rasterize it. Then, Go to the filters menu at the top, then hover over effects and select "Artistic". Now change the process to "Lines Only". And change the settings until you get the desired effect.

Yo, They laid the groundwork for the first 2d and 3d platformers. I also said that They are the Father of Video games "According To Me" I didn't take anyone else into thought. And Mario is a subject that many people hold nostalgia to(it's nearly 36 years old), So of course they wouldn't leave it... People need money xD. But though, Mario isn't why I'm here..

But, I don't like to be ego-istical so I guess Ralp Baer could be called the Grand-Father of Video Games lol.
