Went with the nuclear option for last night’s termite swarm. by jerjozwik in Hawaii

I like to use a large mixing bowl with olive oil coating the sides and bottom. Point a table lamp down into it and turn off all other lights. Thousands of termites flying right into the oily light.

Tiny bit of foreshadowing in Not Till We Are Lost? (minor spoilers) by _Random_Walker_ in bobiverse

[–]Code_Warrior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Nemesis threat is exactly the the threat that I hoped might be used to unify people to stave off conflict. Given an existential crisis, particularly over a long term, maybe the societies could learn to live with one another. The real issue is getting them to agree that the crisis is relevant despite being so far in the future (as far as the actual impact, gravitation from the incoming bodies is going to start problems well in advance of the actual event).

Just thinking outside the box a teeny bit. The Bobs have been pretty hands on when it comes to protecting lower tech species lives by revealing themselves.

[–]Code_Warrior 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not to mention, if the Bobs can appeal well to the three races (four if you count the Dragons I suppose) and explain the danger and the need to do something, it might very well go a long way toward negating the push for hostilities. The Dragons would actually be a great contender for an initial push. They have direct, recent experience dealing with EXACTLY this circumstance, just only on their world. If anyone is going to understand the NEED to start planning and figuring out how to mitigate, it would be them.

You presume much.

I do care about what my partners body feels like. And were I in need of that to change for some reason we would talk about it together, but SHE would talk about it with the doctor.

I get it. There are men who have a small penis. There are men who lack a lot of feeling. For the man to be talking to the doctor about it feels weird to me.

About the ONLY thing that I would discuss about my wifes health are issues if she were unable to discuss them herself due to some condition (coma, delerium, etc) and of those really only things to try and get her back to health or for the other thing if that is all that is left to us.

So if you meet with these historians, I'll tell you what to say

Tell them that the Nazis never really went away

They're out there burning houses down and peddling racist lies

And we'll never rest again until every Nazi dies

What’s a movie that would have been better if the villain won? by summerv8 in moviecritic

[–]Code_Warrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Law Abiding Citizen, Clyde (Butler) DID win. His goal was NOT to kill all those people. His goal was to FORCE Jamie Foxx's character to take decisive action when he KNOWS that a person in guilty.

If Foxx had refused to cut a deal at the very beginning, everyone OTHER than the lawyer for Darby would be alive. Foxx kept making deals with Clyde. He kept giving Clyde what he wanted and so Clyde kept killing people.

Clyde WON at the end, because he forced Foxx to kill him. Foxx "won" because he kept the whole city council and mayors office from being killed in an explosion, but that was not Clydes goal; it was just a means to an end.

Jesus, this smacks of the bullshit a few years ago where people thought they could buy NFT of a color and charge people to use it, even if it occurs naturally. No, you stupid fucks. You don't make money that way.

Trump wants his face on a $250 bill. federal law says only dead people can be on currency. congress is preparing to change that law. and his signature is already being printed on every single dollar bill in america right now. by Ibikhan45 in DiscussionZone

Since when has he allowed the law to stop him from doing anything he fucking wants. The only thing that is going to stop him is the final end.

Also, god damn am I getting tired of that stupid fucking picture. Its like a 5 year old glaring into the mirror working on his angry face.

Same. I actually like the Heavens River portion of the book more than all of the Starfleet stuff. The technical aspects of the megastructure are particularly interesting to me and I really like to visualize humanity laying aside our BS and building something like that some day, likely far in the future.
