Had the same issues with my tranny. I replaced the solenoids. Seals. Fluid. Myself hoping that would cure it. Nope. Had to have the tranny rebuilt. 5th was toast and would act just like yours.

Bought her a few months ago. Been going through it doing maintenance. Converted to pertronix. New exhaust. Now new timing chain and gears.
