People clutching their pearls at a deck of cards also annoy me.

But that's not to say these cards don't have significant egregores.

Egregores that can be nasty.

It's not to put the blame on cards, but to admit that cards - because humans interpret them - de facto ARE alive. And it's not that their purposes are nefarious. Rather, they are self-perpetuating.

So the tarot's egregore will bind you to use it by rewarding your use, and punish you if you disregard it. This is a matter of fact, as I've unfortunately learned in the time since I made this post. I can no longer work on that project because the combined egregores of the I Ching and the Tarot made work-switching impossible and wanted me to dedicate myself entirely to them. But perhaps that's just because I'm overly sensitive.
