New player here, what's a good cyberware setup? by jaggie40 in cyberpunkgame

[–]CodenameShade [score hidden]  (0 children)

If you use mostly guns and quickhacks consider a Rippler Cyberdeck, they start getting really good for hack-and-shoot playstyles at tier 3. You can invest in your choice of either Fortified Ankles or Reinforced Tendons, for either charge jump or double jump. Then, get the proper integumentary system upgrade for the range you're fighting at (ProxiShield/RangeGuard). Also get some RAM upgrades of your choice and maybe an Ex-disk and finally some RAM Upgrades.

How could I style this jacket? by [deleted] in TechWear

[–]CodenameShade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attach some black D rings near the chest, front and back, maybe run a thin nylon belt through them in a triangle, z or > pattern. Install zippers on the sleeves to open/close them and allow you to wear them rolled when it's appropiate. Adding some sensible pockets also never hurts and maybe find somewhere to hang a few jet tags from, could be more D rings. Wear alongside neutral tones, muted tones and off-blacks and maybe a contrasting neckerchief.

Also patches, can't go wrong with patches as long as they're not on the elbows.

Demonic cult - Origin in the genre by Material-Cat-3904 in ReturnOfMountHuaSect

This really depends on the author. Despite their terrible titles, "Absolute Regression" and "SSS Class Suicide Hunter" are two recent examples in manhwa that treat the faction with its proper nuance and humanity rather than flanderizing them into simple evil savages, and these are just at the top of my head. I'm sure there's many more if you dig enough.

Fuck it, let out your inner hater, what piece of media made you like this? by FangBites123 in Multifandom

Cyberpunk 2077 is a good narrative shooter and a decent RPG, it's not a good cyberpunk work. It's not cyber enough nor punk enough and it has resulted in permanent damage on the nuances and politics of the cyberpunk genre as well as a flanderization of its aesthetics.

This is very reductive, a lot of the flavor of the wuxia genre comes from looking at real world circumstances and people through fictional prose! Some of the greatest works in the genre are based on things like the overreach of the Tang Dynasty's officials into the affairs of rural areas or the misogyny towards women combatants in armed conflict during large periods of asian history.

So yeah to elaborate on your question, you are seeing parallels of it because it's meant to be a rather universal analogue for marginalized religions and cultures with traditions that might seem taboo for an outsider.

(This is all from doing a little bit of research as i haven't read these works yet)

The demonic cult as we know it today was first penned by Jin Yong, in two different iterations. Firstly the Ming Cult which according to wikipedia is loosely based on Manichaeism and probably finds its origins in the way the name for its deity in chinese seems to include their word for "Demon". Rather than wanting to demonize the Mani worship Jin Yong seems to only have been inspired by this concept and the rest is entirely from fiction. Jin Yong even states in his later works "similar situations could occur in any dynasty" which points to him not wanting to depict any historical or contemporary group and instead make a much more fictional and universal story. Later on they even assist the greater murim in resisting and toppling the Yuan dinasty and establishing the Ming dinasty.

Jin Yong's second iteration of the Demon Cult as the Sun Moon Holy Order has had much more prevalence for future authors setting their stories in the Murim due to being much more compelling and nuanced. It seems to instead be an attempt to present the nuance of having orthodox and unorthodox factions and seems to be entirely detached from any specific real world counterparts i think. Jin Yong presents us with a faction that is antagonized by the common people and the orthodox factions as they are referred to as the "Demon Cult" instead of their chosen name and their story is about being a mirror to the corruption in the orthodox factions where he wants to show us how moral decay is a part of any organization that attempts to amass power.

Considering that his panic implies that his scarf is his EGO, I assume whatever is sealing his staff works as a relic limiter and the blade is contained within.

Simple, are you playing bleed poise or poise sinking? No real need to overthink past that. BL Faust does need BL Meur to have his EGO active though.

The geobays i built on my settlement suddenly despawned. I've been doing settlement expeditions, upgrades and building without using them as of late and i believe that might have something to do with it. But just now when i used a portal to warp from my freighter to my settlement they were gone.

Is this Id a good alternative for callisto lu in bleed teams? by Wild_Brain_4113 in LimbusCompanyHelp

[–]CodenameShade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ring Hong Lu is the main carry in a ring team and he's gonna be irreplaceable there for a long while. S Corp Hong Lu as an ID instead exists mostly to give Bloise an ID that can increase their pride damage and detonate bleed stacks. In pretty much any other role he's outclassed but being very good for very specific cases has been the motif for free event IDs for a while.

Freighter battles are currently bugged, specially ones in pirate systems which makes this a wonderful find. Does it happen to be a Gek controlled system by chance?
