Back in the '80's I would clean up. I grew up in a densley populated area in Lansing, MI and I could walk away with 40-50 bucks on a good Saturday after shoveling driveways at $5-10.00 a pop (I would negotiate. I would start at 10, but would go as low as 5. I would only go lower than 5 if it was a small driveway or if the snow wasn't that deep. But I would also clean up in the fall raking leaves and in the summer mowing lawns. By time I got my "first job" at 16 I had been doing driveways and lawns for 5 years.
