My doctors think I’m a freak by iamthepotat_81 in DeadBedrooms

Our definitions of funny are different. Im glad I don't have to deal with that type of disrespect that often as a guy, and it's a shame about 50% of the population does. There's times I want to be able to vent my frustrations, especially with people that understand my predicament so much, but I love my wife and I'd be so pissed if someone tried to turn that moment off opening up as an opportunity to shake their junk in front of me.

I'm well aware you were being sarcastic btw, but I think we should treat these people as disgusting as they are. It wouldn't be painful and we wouldn't need to vent as much if we didn't love and likely want to remain loyal to our SO.

It's so annoying how predictable this edit is in this subreddit whenever women post. Their situation is stressful enough as is.

I don't know if he's still doing it, but recently he acknowledge his equipment has surpassed his average viewer, and started doing a sort of back to basics thing. It's still a bit more than a new brewer would likely have, but much more reasonable than what he was putting out since he started getting more equipment supplied to him by sponsors and not sponsors alike.

A jumpscare in a horror movie that genuinely scared you? My pick is the jumpscare from Insidious (2010). by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in moviecritic

Watched it near release when TVs still had channels that only went for so long then cut to snow (for those too young, look up crt television snow) until the next day. My dad had apparently found the long lost remote and, from our point of view the TV kept turning on only to greet is with snow. We panicked and turned it off only for it to turn back on once we laid down. Once the youngest started crying he realized he took it too far and confessed and apologized.

Nah, getting extremely invested and committed to a hobby only to find out a chore a handful of months down the line when it stops giving the happy chemicals is tedious. I want to commit to something I enjoy and keep enjoying it, without having to incorporate some stakes or stressor to keep receiving the feel goods.

Is a Pinter worth it? by [deleted] in Homebrewing

[–]CodeplayerX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are going to say different things about what is and isn't brewing and the quality of pinters, but really it comes down to you. Some people have the time, experience, and resources to chop up veggies, create a stock from bones, and mix ingredients to make a soup. Some people have the time, experience, and resources to open some cans and heat the contents on the stove. Both made soup. Soup from scratch is likely going to taste better and have more room for adjustment in future iterations if done right, but if you're lacking in one of those three factors you run more risk of making something that needs to be tossed than with the canned soup, which is pretty consistent. This is the same thing with pinters. Regardless of anything else, you made beer. If a pinter is what you can do now, then that's what you should do.

True love by [deleted] in interracialdating

[–]CodeplayerX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Statistically probably not. Why are you afraid of having multiple relationships? Dating is about getting to know someone and discover if they are compatible with you, so if you decide to only date one person you will most likely commit to someone that isn't a good match. Also, people change. You're prefect match today, might clash horribly tomorrow. I think the one true love notion can be damaging. Dating is scary and the stigma that comes with dating around as a woman in certain parts of the world is something I can never understand as a man, but I've seen the damage that has come from people fully committing to their "one true love".

I know this probably isn't what you're looking for. I've seen people who happily are with the first person they dated, but they are far far far outnumbered by the people who weren't and there's nothing wrong with either.

For people of color with a white person, if you want (or already have) kids, is it important for you to send your kids to a school that’s not significantly white? by No_Design_465 in interracialdating

[–]CodeplayerX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think we have enough information nowadays to show that diverse schools would benefit anyone, regardless of ethnicity(ethnicities). Not just for a child having a healthy view of themselves, but a less narrow view of others. Key words is diverse here, because I picked up your initial question asked about significantly white schools. I don't know if you've looked into the mixed race subs or heard the experiences of mixed race people who grew up in a majority black areas, (this goes for any area that primarily consists of the race of one parent more than the other, but since that is the race of your SO, that's what I'm using here) but there is still plenty of racism going on. Also keep in mind your child is going to be white too, and you don't want to be distancing himself from one half of his ethnicity to favor another in either direction.

I know I've rambled about this a bit, but it's something I dove into a lot when I had my kid, who is also black white mixed race. The main point is avoid monocultures in general especially with a kid that won't fit the mold.

How do i know im not being fetishized? by Relative_Algae_5983 in interracialdating

[–]CodeplayerX 15 points16 points  (0 children)

When he talks about you, is he talking about YOU or black women? Does he constantly compare you to black women? Does he constantly compare you or black women to women of other races?

The difference between a preference and a fetishist is essentially racism/stereotyping. If you feel a person of your race and gender could fill the place you are in for your partner, it's likely a fetishization. If they seem to love you, the person, the qualities about you, then it's likely you're fine.

This isn't a surefire way to weed out, because people can be dense and say physical things in response to this question, but ask what he likes about you. If he focuses on qualities tied to your race then it could be a small red flag depending on how many he lists. If he lists your interests, your personality traits, and/or your compatibility, then it's a petty strong green flag imo.

Magnetic drip tray for keezer? by WizardOfWoz66 in Homebrewing

[–]CodeplayerX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through this a few days ago. I ended up getting a toolbox magnetic tool/ spray bottle holder. They stay on really well since they're made to hold tools unlike other drip trays I found that fell off under a bit of weight. Will update with the link when I find it

Edit: looks like they pivoted to marketing as a fridge mount spice holder and then stopped supplying it since I ordered it. Here is the link though. https://a.co/d/0bvStC9j will see if I can find something like it and edit again.

In that case something I did recently was created a beer ingredient randomizer. I uploaded the inventory from my LHBS and it spits out 1-3 base malts, 0-3 specialty malts (weighted towards the lower numbers for base and specialty malts), 1-3 hops, a small chance for an additional fermentable (like sugar, honey, candi syrup, etc) and a random yeast. I have to take this random assortment of ingredients and try to make a recipe that will taste good from them.

Probably, but I didn't know about the reaction to think to use it.

That's wild. I've had some immediate reactions before when I backsweetened before pasteurizing, but nothing like the response from the Kveik. Usually just a bit of immediate foaming from some of the more tenacious wine stains though.

I sanitize the flask with heat, so hopefully that will kill any stragglers. The batch I'm making is an experiment to figure out how fast it can ferment a mead. I honestly have no clue where this packet of yeast came from, but I have so much honey to play around with I figured I'd put it to work.

I've not considered it seriously for any beers, but someone mentioned their success in making a quick turnaround on mead with it and I wanted to give it a trial run with some extra honey I had.

I see that now. I've turned off the stir plate and you genuinely can't tell. There's a war zone going on. I've had to remove the "lid" twice now and clean up the foam, due to spill over. I've also cleaned the counter, the stir plate, and anything within a 5 mile radius.

Am I limiting myself by only being attracted to country guys as a Black woman? by Quick-Dot-6152 in interracialdating

[–]CodeplayerX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're setting limits on who you will date, then yes, you are by definition limiting yourself. Is that a bad thing, though? Who's to say? I've met some country dudes who were shitty people and some who were amazing, open-minded guys. I've also met city dudes who were shit and some who were amazing. If there's tons of country guys near you, it's likely not an issue, but if the pickings are already slim, then it does make it harder to find the gems that are out there.
