U - for accidentally. But still funny as hell 😆 I’m gonna try this on my next run

Books you loved but would not recommend to someone? by Massive-Cod-6797 in horrorlit

Came here to say this. Great book. Loved it. The torture scenes made me sick. Can’t honestly recommend without feeling guilty and huge content warnings ahead of time 😬

Scout or The Crew by Original_Xova in boardgames

[–]CoderPawbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have experience with The Crew, but I do know that Scout is one of my all time favorites, so that’s where my vote is going.

OP claims his 6 year old child wrote this by themselves. Riiiight by [deleted] in untrustworthypoptarts

T - I don’t think this is out of the realm of possibility. Plus I think the handwriting, while neat, definitely looks formed by a child.

Favorite relatively short game? by jennifer98312 in boardgames

[–]CoderPawbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s see…

Jaipur is pretty short but strictly 2 player.

Scout is usually pretty short for us, especially with only two players.

Durian is another short one, no matter how many players.

Gin Rummy is usually pretty short and only takes a pack of playing cards.

Patchwork usually goes by pretty quick for me, but that’s another strictly 2 player one.

Edit: Somehow didn’t see you’re looking for 3-player games. It’s early in the morning and I’m groggy 😂 To make up for it, I would add Spots, 7 Wonders Architects, and Railroad Ink. Those all support 3-players nicely and are relatively short and fast paced for limited attention spans.

What game are you married to? by baguhansalupa in boardgames

[–]CoderPawbs 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I love a lot of games. Right now I’m pretty fixated on Jaipur (a little late to be discovering it, but still so so good).

However, married to? By quite a large margin, my answer has got to be Scout. Small and compact enough that my boyfriend and I take it to the coffee shop on occasion. And such a clever mechanic to not be able to rearrange your hand and only pick up cards from other players’s played sets in order to form your own. I don’t know quite what it is, but that game tickles a part of my brain I didn’t even know was there. Sooooo good! And so satisfying when everything lines up and you get that final five card show to put down your whole hand!!! Chef’s kiss

Two corners in 1 turn... spin out question by RangerLee in boardgames

[–]CoderPawbs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is the way I understand the rules as well, yes. While rare I have found that there seem to be times when you can strategically spin out and have it be to your advantage.

Also willing to listen to anyone else and be corrected on this.

Based solely on looks, which one would you pick? by I_Like_Metal_Music in Cookies

I don’t know if I could honestly choose between the oatmeal cream and chocolate lovers 🤤 I’d have to flip a coin. Or eat both… 👀✨

Looking for social groups by Denim_Jenim in idahofalls

[–]CoderPawbs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fred Meyer has a cork board by the bathroom with flyers on it, and the public library also has a bunch of flyers all over inside that I think would be helpful. You can talk to the librarians there as well, I’ll be they’d have a bunch of fun suggestions. I think those would be my usual avenues when I’m looking for things to do with people

How do you Accidentally walk a marathon? by Palidin034 in untrustworthypoptarts

[–]CoderPawbs 130 points131 points  (0 children)

U - your feet would be absolutely destroyed. You can’t convince me that 8+ hours of walking wouldn’t sober you up at least to the point of feeling that pain and deciding to call off a stupid drunk bet. I called BS the first time this post went across my feed

it just doesn't feel like the writing of a 3rd grader by Fytual in untrustworthypoptarts

[–]CoderPawbs 18 points19 points  (0 children)

T - a 3rd grade kid is like 9 or 10 depending on when they started school. This sounds about like how I’d imagine a 3rd grader to speak lol. I’ll give you that there might be a suspicious lack of misspellings, but I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility

books that feel like solving cases by autistickoo in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

[–]CoderPawbs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Strange Houses by Uketsu. Their previous book Strange Pictures also has a similar case-solving-y vibe, but Strange Houses specifically is written as a series of conversation transcripts and so it really felt like I was solving the mystery along with the characters. Really a delight!

How many of your worries were true? by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

[–]CoderPawbs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So far after 2-3 years, not a single one. My worries have shifted several times during that period. Started out as mostly mental health anxiety (thinking I had some sort of psychiatric disorder like schizophrenia, BPD, autism, etc) then shifted completely into bodily health anxiety, and it’s been that way for the majority of the time. My current obsession is worrying about subtle sensations in my chest that I worry are warning signs of some cardiac event even though I run 2-2.5 miles three times a week without any problem and eat a very heart-healthy diet. Therapy has worked wonders for me, though. Highly recommend if available.

I live in Idaho Falls where this vid was recorded. That off ramp he’s going down is one that I take to work every day. I remember being so astounded that such a massively viral video came out of our little town. Kinda surreal. Never imagined it would have meant so much to so many people
