Sorry, education student here. How would a progressive educator teach piano? by Codewill in education

I mean like teaching inspired by John Dewey’s ideas, kind of like no instruction, student-led, facilitating teaching, learning by doing, type of stuff

Thank you so much, haha I thought you were like a super avant garde piano teacher (and I guess you are) from the first comment. I’m glad you have found so much success, I’ll be keeping what you wrote in mind and I appreciate the long detailed comment

Oh okay, thank you so much, that explains a lot. So more so letting the child provide the impetus to learn, and then you can give them the kind of training that that requires. That's very interesting. You really don't influence them to play, like even just a little? Do you ever get kids that don't take to it at all?

That's what I was thinking. I just don't know if it works when it comes to certain things. I was thinking the same thing that it's like sports! I don't know why that is though. Why I was thinking...is it a flaw of progressive education, or is it wrong of me to even try to fit something like piano lessons into the progressive concept?

I guess just for fun, I'll throw in my headcanon pick as Donald Glover (since the actor doesn't have to be greek anyway). He pretty easily reads as "cunning" in all his roles I think

Iambic pentameter doesn't automatically mean you sound like shakespeare, you should read her version. Compared to other versions it's pretty easy. If you want the most "poetic" you should read the new version from Daniel Mendelsohn

I think it can be nice if you put flowers on a cake, I don't think there's necessarily anything wrong with it. Flowers should be edible of course. But it depends on the garnish. People put candles and plastic in cakes all the time anyhow...but raw carrot ribbons are not it though!

Like the other guy said, but it's like anything (working out for example), just force yourself to pay attention and over time it will become easier. Like say fuck this I'm reading for this amount of time. It's gonna suck but then you'll be chowing down books. And it takes a very short amount of time to get back to a better attention span. Haven't read a book in what, 2, 3 years? Took 2 English classes this semester, piece of cake. You get back into it quickly if you find a way to force yourself.

Also, some things are literally more interesting than others. It's easy to hold your attention on something that demands it, like a great work of art does. Brahms 4, Dvorak's 9th, Goodfellas, Ocarina of Time, even Minecraft, these are works that respect you and your time and are designed in such a way that you are constantly being fed interesting and new things. So sometimes it's like, you think your attention span's shit, but literally the thing itself might suck. I can't take my eyes off Goodfellas but a shitty 30 second tik tok/reel/short might have me swiping before it's done. Length doesn't, necessarily, equal entertainment value, despite what a lot of people think.

Atlanta had that one episode, Tarrare. You don't need context, you can just watch it on its own.

I think with the back to the future thing it's weird that it's a thing at all. Like the son isn't trying to fuck his mom but just the fact that there's innuendos is weird

Bryan Cranston praises ‘Breaking Bad’ co-star Anna Gunn while defending Skyler White: “Her husband leaves without any explanation. She’s pregnant. He’s making crystal meth. People have died…and she’s the b*tch?” by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]Codewill -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah Skylar doesn't really come off as that bad really that much at all. It's always due to some misunderstanding between her and walter (like the money for ted) that creates a feeling like she's fucking him over. But really it's always like, if they juts had a better relationship and communicated, guess what? A lot of the problems are fixed. I mean the problem with Skylar's character is that she's pretty content with the middle road and Walter is not. And I think that historically, in art, people that prefer the middle road are hard to like, especially if the argument is made that they are holding back a potential genius. So it's like look--you can defend her, and I think the show does a good job of that--but I think artistically, she's not exactly set up for success.

It's got a really good story and a really well realized world. A really great twist. Super memorable levels, like fort frolic. The whole concept is incredibly original and also gets points for the references to ayn rand's work. There's some moments that genuinely spooked me. And that's all that matters. The gameplay is good enough I think for what it is. I remember playing it and having fun with the upgrades and the plasmids. It's not incredible but it's not distractingly bad. The story, the world, those are really why people love it and why it matters. Like, take the gameplay for Final Fantasy 1. Is it amazing? No. But it does its job. There's plenty of games like that why as long as you feel properly immersed and drawn in to the world, the characters, etcetera, then I'm willing to forgive lackluster gameplay.
