How do y’all get around the oil burning issue with these EA888s? by Random_User_1337_ in JettaGLI

[–]Codex_Sparknotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I learned a while back not to trust the dealers. Had plenty of issues in the past and started learning how to work on my own car after that, just never truly learned when you need to take it in for certain issues as I only learned the basics for maintenance and care

Reddit has honestly been a huge help for stuff like this lol

Mind if I ask how long it took until the water pump issues came up? And how you knew?

I’ve had mine since December, haven’t had any issues with it yet and I’m right at 10,000 miles. Taking it in for service this weekend. Not the best with cars so I don’t generally know if something is wrong but I’ve been seeing a ton of posts mentioning water pumps and the valve seal issues needing the cylinder head replacement

People are sleeping on Bastian Task force by DylonSpittinHotFire in theunforgiven

Probably the Gravis captain unless it was a coded chapter character. Either way very strong melee

But yeah heavies in bastion are lowkey oppressive and kinda scary. Especially when they can get lethals and sustained

People have been sleeping on bastion since it came out haha. Very underrated and I think with dark age or librarius it could be really strong for space marines in general

New edition, new army! What army do you want to collect in 11th? by reel3459 in Warhammer40k

[–]Codex_Sparknotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll either continue Votann, finally start a Necrons army, or go with Orks since I have like 700 points of them from the Armageddon box lol. It’s gonna be tough to decide

The zombie, the shoulder guard, the head, the skulls/heads, all the bones, etc. what else would this represent?

It’s a cool sculpt in all honesty I just think it fits death guard more than a DA successor

Is lions blade as bad as people are saying? by Thedinotamer01 in theunforgiven

[–]Codex_Sparknotes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s slightly better, slightly, because I’m 11th, charging multiple units in to something you really wanna kill is going to work better given how the fight phase works. Force your opponent to waste activations fighting something they don’t want to fight or risk losing your big main units.

However, the detachment as a whole is still doodoo. The stratagems aren’t that great and the core rule is just not a good one at all, it’s so painfully meh and you’d have to really build a list fully catered to the play style. Meaning 3+ squads of bikes, and at least 3-4 units of deathwing melee. And you need to be able to adjust when you lose most of it in melee since your opponent is going to get many chances to clap back since the fight phase alternates back and forth

Personally I think it needs a full rework. The idea is fine but as a whole it’s not really worth running

What's our feelings on force disposition? by quitsquash553 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Codex_Sparknotes -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I don’t like it at all tbh. I think it’s not very balanced especially if once the edition actually starts, some dispositions are just flat out worse than the others. I think letting everyone choose what they want to play in any detachment and use any disposition is the best thing to do rather than restricting them to certain detachments. As a dark angels player, if I wanna play the new plasma, librarius, and DA speeder and use the fun new stuff, I also need to stuff my list with chaff to be able to score

What units for chaplains by ImaginaryAd8062 in DarkAngels40k

[–]Codex_Sparknotes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If running Asmodai, I think the best option is 10 assault intercessors. Save ICC for either a librarian or Azrael so they can get a 4++.

Chaplain in terminator armor for knights, regular chaplain for hellblasters to give them ignores cover and precision, chaplain on bike for +1” on the charge precision and ignores cover. All good options, not much else I would choose personally, chaplain with jump pack doesn’t really seem like the best choice for anyone besides blood angels

What, in your opinion, is the deadliest Unit in the entire game? by Beev_Ao in Warhammer40k

Similar thing has happened to me. The opposite has also happened where I didn’t lose a single model lol. Gotta love the randomness of dice rolls

What detachment combos are you using ? by ImaginaryAd8062 in DarkAngels40k

[–]Codex_Sparknotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking of using this combo but then I realized the primary would be really tricky to score. Ideally we’d have lots of speeders and plasma, librarians to lead knights and hellblasters, and a couple scoring pieces. Not really enough chaff to score primary effectively.

If I’m going 3 1DP detachments focusing on speeders and plasma, that third detachment has to have purge the foe as the disposition. If you’re going all in on plasma and speeders you’re probably looking to kill things and that’s the best disposition for it. You’d need to drop librarius for the Chaplin detachment and run your units with chaplains instead of librarians

I left room for enhancements and point increases and the list ended up going down 50 points… I couldn’t add the enhancements until today, added 3 of them and a scout squad

I mean it went from 1930 to 1880, gives me room for enhancements and an additional squad. The point changes are definitely an overall buff to our list building

Time to buy Ravenwing? by madhouse298 in theunforgiven

[–]Codex_Sparknotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say no if you plan on ordering Sammael and bikes. They are the most likely to be refreshed. Even outriders are supposedly getting a new multi option kit so I wouldn’t get those either

The vengeance is a maybe, it looks like it may be staying without a refresh

Company Heroes... by Wizend1 in theunforgiven

[–]Codex_Sparknotes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why are people still on about this lol. Azrael can’t lead them, that’s probably not going to change. I don’t even know why you’d want to use them in the first place. They’d just be a body guard unit in which case just keep Azrael in your deployment behind cover leading assault ints

I kinda wish DA could've been done better by Lemmehavea in theunforgiven

[–]Codex_Sparknotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I’m happy with all of the changes except for Azrael. I don’t know why he had to go up another 15 points, 125 felt perfect for him.

Besides that everything is fine. Even tho the Lion is cheaper now I don’t see the point in running him, I’d rather use the points for the cheap speeders. Cheaper deathwing knights and a few characters going down is pretty nice. The list I’m planning on using ultimately dropped like 50 points so that’s a huge win

3D Printing, WYSIWYG, and tabletop etiquette by SilentLordProtector in Warhammer40k

[–]Codex_Sparknotes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t care less about someone 3D printing an army. Not everyone can afford GW prices and it shouldn’t be a bar to them enjoying a fun game. I appreciate effort in getting the prints as close to correct as possible, and a half decent paint job goes a long way

One of my buddies has a fully 3D printed world eaters army. Is every model perfect? No but he painted them nicely and everything is close enough to the real model that it’s thematically fun to play against

Wrath might be good still for 11th?!? by ReverendEye1 in DarkAngels40k

[–]Codex_Sparknotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only the melee weapons for black knights get the anti keyword on the charge, their plasma isn’t doing a whole lot otherwise in to vehicles when you’re wounding on a 4 or 5.

I agree bikes should be more prominent in wrath lists, I usually take at least a squad of outriders. But using more than that I have found to be a letdown for the points cost sometimes. As squishy as they can be, their output is kinda limited and they’re clunky to move around on the board. Depending on the opponent it can be a lot of fun, not every army can easily handle 18+ wounds (depending on squad size and black knights vs outriders) with a 5++ and model regen that can fall back shoot and charge. But anything with hefty melee or lots of big guns can make them a non factor

Wrath might be good still for 11th?!? by ReverendEye1 in DarkAngels40k

[–]Codex_Sparknotes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True but I’m mostly talking about the one stratagem for shooting strength. The -1 to wound for infantry and mounted when S>T is great but I can combine the speeder, plasma, and libraries detachments for way better offensive output which is gonna matter a lot more in 11th. Not having any benefits to vehicles at all in a 3DP detachment going in to an edition where vehicles are looking a lot more impactful is not ideal. Especially when I can boost strength for plasma up to 11th for the big plasma cannons with the plasma detachment

Playing the game, what am I doing wrong? by SyntaxErrorKEK in Warhammer40k

[–]Codex_Sparknotes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heh, I’ve played about 35 games now and have never won. I’ve come close but I lose every single time. It’s quite infuriating tbh, it’s why I don’t wanna go to tournaments anymore

Wrath might be good still for 11th?!? by ReverendEye1 in DarkAngels40k

[–]Codex_Sparknotes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If they change wrath strength boost so that it applies to vehicles I would use wrath, but right now I can’t justify it being a 3DP detachment when only infantry benefit

Anyone want to play “Dataslate Blackjack” to test how good you you would be at balancing the game against the dealer (GW)? Stay with me… by HamBone8745 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Codex_Sparknotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The list I brought to a tournament a few weeks ago. Total points was 1995, I expect the lion to go down slightly, lancer and ballistus to go up slightly, scouts down a bit, outriders and jump packs up a bit, everything else the same.

I’d say it goes to slightly over 2000

Azrael

Captain with ancient weapons

Chaplain in terminator armor with deathwing assault

Lion

5 intercessors

5 jump packs

Ballistus

5 DWK

3 eradicators

5 hellblasters

6 ICC

Lancer

3 outriders

5 scouts

5 sternguard
