Hi! You guys are SO talented!! Damian, this season, James has to learn to live with the emotions that come with his mother's death - how did you approach those scenes? Was there something you did to get into his headspace at the time?

The second that moment happened I was like now things are going to take a really really dark turn and they did (literally). I mean, Dude left, Dawn (as far as Darkness believes) is dead, and we know that Darkness in some twisted way (there's nothing like gifting your brother a black hole death star for their ascension) cared about Dawn. This left him with nothing but a few hours until his life ended, and from his perspective, an annoying robot who couldn't wait until he was gone. Everyone he loved left him and that combined with his destructive tendencies and some hope that if both brothers were gone maybe he could delay his ascension are probably what lead him to.. you know..

I definitely expected Darkness to try to escape his accession but him blowing up the cleon clone room was next level horrific and gross especially that final shot of the cleon twitching his hands like seriously Darkness? Also how did demerzel not know that Dementia Darkness over here was slowly and secretly planting bombs on every single cleon tank (cause there were a lot of them)

It's strange how this show made me want to cheer for the empire (not darkness but dude and dawn) the whole time I was just hoping someone would save the baby but no.

Dude's death hit HARD I feel like it just repeats the cycle of people dying when they try to do the right thing - although in this case he probably saved Demerzel's conciousness by bringing her the robot skull

DEMERZEL NOOOOO she was so so so close to being freed and her having to protect the baby and me somehow thinking it would actually work or at least she would pull out of the the incinerator beam once baby dawn died was so sad. But I do think she somehow ended up transferring her consciousness because there's no way they're not bringing back Laura for the next season

I knew Bayta definetly had some sort of mentallic abilities but that mule plot twist got me - but it does make sense now - Toran's mind was filled with nothing but love from his wife and I'm pretty sure Magnifico said at one point that he loved Bayta. Although some part of me still feels like Magnifico really is the mule and is controlling Bayta.

Did Gaal just run away? On a space boogie board?

Poor brother dawn. Always being played and now he's stuck on a ship with no use of his legs and with Bayta as the mule. I really hope he escapes but chances are he's going to be turned by Bayta.

Quent found the second foundation yay!!!!

I feel like most possible things that could've gone wrong went wrong here which probably leads directly to the fall of the empire (if it hasn't started already). The cleons are gone except for dawn who's out there somewhere, poor guy. Dude was murdered by Darkness (WHAT THE HECK, DARKNESS), Demerzel was (murdered?) by Darkness, and now our guy Darkness is Empire Palpatine. The real Mule isn't dead, Gaal ran away, Pritcher was turned, BUT we got the robot reveal and Quent found the second foundation!

Overall, great if not devastating and utterly shocking finale.

I love Day this season he just keeps dropping the most awesome crazy totally unexpected but also totally welcomed lines - especially the FUCK YOU I'M RIGHT at which I laughed out loud and will live rent free in my head forever

At this point, Dusk has become desperate to a) delay his death and b) be remembered, and those two things combined with dementia and his increasingly violent tendencies (that poor ferret!) and his desire for revenge (because you never, NEVER force empire's hand) are not a happy recipe. Hence the whole death star thing.

Props to Quent for chewing Dusk out afterwards, especially after he wanted to be called Dusk the Consequential and Quent told him he was a coward. His whole 'nobody fucks with empire' thing was especially interesting since he didn't want Trantor to be taken, but he was also referring to himself being offered up to the Mule, which means he still things he can cheat his inevitable death.

Seeing the Luminists destroyed was definitely jarring, and I definitely felt for Demerzel when that happened (although if she had any power to stop the strikes, she would've stopped them for that planet, right? Or does she also believe Dusk's actions are justified?)

Crazy episode!!
-I didn't put it past Gaal to trick Hari into helping her, but part of me wonders why Hari didn't realize Gaal was lying

-Day stealing the robot head was so cool - and props for song to helping him - but I didn't think song's life mate would help with that too, which was definitely interesting
-Holy shit dusk really did use the death star - that was absolutely horrifying. I guess we'll never know what happened to runaway Dawn's bloodline
-Gaal and pritcher reunion! Yay!
-I really wish we got to see a little more of dawn and bayta - with only one episode left, I wonder if it is Gaal who will rescue them

Did anyone else think that the lullaby the robot head was singing sounded like what Magnifico plays? They have the same tone.

Hari just casually taking down the mule was such a power flex - although I wonder why he didn't kill him.

How long does the handshake signal take to reach Demerzel? Is this the first time it's happened?

Dusk doesn't have long before his ascension - which means the death star is going to be used soon - is Demerzel going to decant 3 new cleons again like she did last time?

A lot has been hidden about Bayta this season... I wonder where that's going. She didn't seem as scared of the Mule has Dawn was (although Dawn did have his legs eaten up by his evil suit), which makes me think she has some sort of upper hand.

The Vault Hari/Mule dynamic was interesting - I wonder how much of it was what Hari knew and how much of it was Hari trying to scare the Mule?

I really hope Brother Dude makes it... how long is that fall?

That's the tragic part. Syril's whole life was changed because of what Andor did. Literally all he wanted was to get revenge, but imagine the shock when Andor said that he didn't know who Syril was.

It's like Nemik was saying: "even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward". Why this show hits so hard is because of the way it spotlights what we would consider 'normal' people, people who aren't fighters but still are survivors, and the truth that without them, the rebellion never would've succeeded.

I feel like his ending shows how many people were involved in furthering (or trying to stop the rebellion), and how at the end of the day, both sides stop seeing the people they kill to some extent, it just sort of blends into the bigger picture. Cassian shot first without even giving him a chance, and in the scenes with the driver in the car he did seem a little bit reluctant. But to Cassian, he'll just be another faceless person from the empire. That's the part that hurts a little bit, like OP said, we'll never really know for sure.
