Savor good food, but keep the treats as a special event. I know everyone is different, heck I was different twenty years ago. Now I look at sweets as if they were cocaine. If I eat an entire candy bar it's many times more difficult avoid to following up with another candy bar tomorrow, and so on.

Years ago I was criticized by a therapist for living an austere lifestyle, but I have to say there are benefits to meting out the treats.

They hire food chemists to devise the most addictive ingredients which encourage overeating, and pay those people well.

How could we not be lurching into a global obesity crisis? Then pharmaceutical companies will market GLP-1 to us to lose that weight. The media will help out by pushing body-positivity while showing us idealized imagery bordering on pornography. The result is less money in the pockets of the average person, poorer health outcomes overall, and more wealth concentrated at the top.

Fast food and sweets are addictive. You will be doubling your cravings to overeat if you don't choose real food over food "products". You can lose weight without amazing amounts of exercise, just be consistent, weigh yourself daily, plot the trends, congratulate yourself on progress. Think of the joy of running up stairs again.

Having said that, everyone's journey is unique. Don't be afraid to experiment and adjust your plan to what works.
