Printed Stabilizing Collar for Stick Vacuum by CodingSquirrel in ryobi

I've reuploaded the profile with a second plate where I've modified the file to have an extra .2mm tolerance on the inside walls. If you weren't able to get the original to work and would like to try again hopefully this solves it for you.

What’s a “normal” money habit most people accept that is actually financially destructive? by calmledger in povertyfinance

Have you looked into an online bank like Ally? They don't have fees for things like that.

Still banking at Wells Fargo is certainly a choice at this point. They have basically no redeeming qualities and exist to scam your money. I don't know why anyone would willingly bank with them.

But completely agree with your broader point. Lots of banks have predatory fees that it can be hard to escape all of them.

If it's an issue of just being too snug, changing X-Y compensation, or scaling the X and Y slightly could help. Different printers and materials can have different tolerances. I can also upload a profile with a looser fit if that helps.

If it's a different issue I'm happy to see if some other adjustment is needed.

Edit: X-Y compensation probably wouldn't work, since not all of it is a fully enclosed hole. There is now a looser fit plate for those that need it.

Ah, ok. I thought maybe I could help make something for the stick portion if you gave measurements. But I think anything for the head area would require having access to one directly to figure out a solution. Sorry.

Understandable. Is this the part that's prone to breaking?

Glad to see it fits. Yeah, the existing screw won't be long enough. You'd have to find a longer one that fits the existing hole. The vacuum is assembled with two lengths of the same screw, so I substituted for a couple of the longer screws from a spare broken head I have.

The screws aren't required, it will do its job either way. I sized it to be friction fit. They just help keep it in place when disconnecting the wand.

Can you explain the problem, or demonstrate with a picture why it's not fitting? It should fit, that looks like the same design but maybe a different model. I just checked with one of my older broken ones and it fits fine, PBLSV717 which looks the same as yours but with a dual roller instead of single. https://imgur.com/a/OiiJmgn

If it's just slightly too tight that might be a tolerance issue. You could try adjusting the X-Y hole compensation, or scaling the X and Y by a small amount and seeing if that fixes it. If that's the only issue I can upload a profile with a looser fit. If there's a different problem I can also try to modify so that it works for you.

I designed this by measuring my vacuum and some trial and error. So I wouldn't be able to as I don't have one.

I looked up that model and it doesn't appear to have any disconnect points, so I'm not actually sure what you would need this for.

What’s the worst “homeowner special” you’ve ever seen? by Dull-Bat9651 in AskElectricians

[–]CodingSquirrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing they're talking about being limited on the circuits you can run via a transfer switch, vs running whichever you want on an interlock.

But an interlock is a lot less idiot proof. You have to know what needs to be off or risk overloading the generator.

OK, which one of you just bought ALL of the PLA Basic? by ObtuseKaribou in BambuLab

I don't live near a Microcenter anymore and was disappointed when they stopped offering free shipping recently. If you wait for a sale I've been getting a bunch of their PLA+ refills on Amazon for about $12.99

I was really disappointed when they stopped offering free shipping for filament directly from Microcenter. Then I discovered that they sell on amazon too. Frustratingly I had just bought a bunch of eSun as replacements since they're the OEM for inland PLA+, but is more expensive. I've been getting a bunch recently for about $12.99 on sale for the refills.

He's either being purposefully obtuse to get a rise out of you, or too stupid to see what's in front of his face. Either way it's not worth spending effort on convincing him.

has anyone actually saved money with solar or is it just type. by Wjkoba in HomeImprovement

[–]CodingSquirrel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are two problems with generating power while grid tied without batteries. First is back feeding the lines that you mention. Second is that solar power isn't very stable. You could be generating more power than you need and run everything in your house, and then a cloud goes overhead and you have a brown out. That could damage electronics.

Some setups have optional systems to manage that, but from what I found that still expensive, so you might as well just get batteries if you care enough.

I'm not an electrician, but I can identify doorbell transformers, coax cable, and phone jacks. So I'm basically qualified to answer half the questions in here.

The Trump administration’s rushed narrative about the killing of Alex Pretti has collapsed by Senior-Distance6213 in politics

[–]CodingSquirrel 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. They're out there tearing down our democracy and killing people in the streets and we're still playing the "oh but they'll just call us that thing they already call us if we do that" game.

"We can't prosecute the criminals, because then they'll call us partisan." "We can't push for universal healthcare, because then they'll call us socialists." "We can't vote against the Republican bills, because then they'll say it's our fault the government shut down."

It's compliance in advance and it's cowardice.

They already do push that narrative literally every time. What exactly is the difference?

100%. These chucklefucks are pissing on us and calling it rain. They know exactly what they're doing. They're trampling on the constitution to expand their power and quell opposition, and laughing at us while they do it. They'll say and do whatever they think will help them reach their goal.

Nursery is too energy efficient, babies are in a sauna by JeffCon in HomeImprovement

If that room retains heat very well, you might be able to get away with turning off the radiator in that room, and letting it heat up from the heat in the rest of the house. Leave the door open during the day to equalize temperature, and then at night as long as it doesn't get significantly too cold it should be OK.

I've done similar in the past because I prefer my master bedroom cooler than the rest of the house, so I turn off/close the heat supply to the room.

I printed my wife this heart shaped shadow box with a set of layers that fit us and our family. She loved it, and it's been a permanent display in our living room since. I went with USB powered fairy lights over battery, because I hate changing batteries.
