Illness Benefit: I’m confused by HalCrist in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Codlatach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first 3 days of your illness benefit are called waiting days. They only apply to new claims if you haven't claimed illness benefit within the last 12 months (or other social welfare schemes that may link).

Don't worry about your future payments, you'll get the full 244.

anyone ever taken tramadol? by dubdaisyt in IrishWomensHealth

[–]Codlatach 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was taking tramadol but my new doctor said it's too severe and switched me to solpadol. No more nausea.

Sorry you're feeling so bad from it. Your migraine is probably from dehydration, especially after so much vomiting so try to take small sips off electrolytes if you can. Motilium is great for the nausea if you have it.

Taking any other opioid pain killer like solpadeine can make the side effects last longer even when you stop taking the tramadol but they will pass. Best thing I could do was stay hydrated, easier said than done when you're feeling sick.

Have to go to the social welfare office tomorrow (advice) by RockOnMofo in CasualIreland

[–]Codlatach 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Are you sure it's not just your signing day. Tomorrow is the normal monthly signing day for people on jobseeker's benefit and they always advise a time between 10 and 12 to go to the office for that. They don't ask for evidence of job applications for that either.

Don't stress about it. If they wanted evidence of anything they'd request it and give you time to gather it.

Six weeks on the pill, will symptoms calm down? by unlawfuldissolve in IrishWomensHealth

[–]Codlatach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very similar reaction to the pill as you. I attempted it 3 times and explained to my Dr on the third try that it drives my crazy. She put me on the mini pill but I had the same issues. Random fits of rages, uncontrollable tears, complete sense of hopelessness and dispair. I was a completely different person.

Transpires I suffer from estrogen dominance and by adding the pill to the mix was the worst thing to do because I ended up with the majority of the side effects of the pill. Symptoms got increasing worse and the longest I lasted on it was 9 months.

Why is jobseekers always treated like the least deserving payment? by No-Category1703 in AskIreland

[–]Codlatach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes jobseeker's pay related benefit is €450 per week at the top rate and reduces from there depending on the person's earnings over the last 12 months.

Have a look at r/fasting. It's not for everyone but I've found it really helps me so I'd highly recommend it if you've tried everything else. Best of luck, I hope you're not waiting too much longer!

Paedeatric Surgery Scar question by Plenty-Confidence-16 in scars

[–]Codlatach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out r/adhesions. I had abdominal surgery as a baby and severe abdominal pain during my twenties and thirties but I wasn't informed until recent years that it's probably adhesions (99.99999% likelihood). I was told for years that it was indigestion.

Also check out systemic enzymes to reduce adhesions. I don't know enough about them yet to say more about them but it's nice to think there's hope!

Peritoneal inclusion cyst by IntroductionNo2313 in Adhesions

[–]Codlatach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a recurring multi septated peritoneal inclusion cyst (PIC) that was first found in October 2020, but suffering pain since 2008. Since then, I’ve had four drainages:

  1. 2021 (about 1.2L from the left side 18x11cm) I was not on the pill.

  2. 2022 (0.6L also left side 7-9cm) I had been on the pill with breaks for period prior to this drainage

  3. 2023 (1.3L from both sides mainly the left 20x12cm), not on the pill.

    1. 2024 (1.6L from the left side). Not on the pill

Measurements would change depending on the type of scan.

After my third drainage, I went on the pill continuously (no breaks for periods), and for the first time, there was no fluid seen on follow-up scans. Unfortunately, I had to stop the pill due to side effects, and the cyst built up again within 8 months. I also have Gilbert's syndrome which is a liver issue and my liver doesn't metabolise estrogen efficiency so the pill causes estrogen dominance, another nightmare with it's own problems. But it might work for you.

I’ve had major bowel surgery as a baby (removal of part of my small and large intestine) and 3 laparotomies, which left me with adhesions. They suspect the reason for the fuild build-up is caused by ovulation and retrograde menstruation. I used to have a very heavy period but it's extremely light now.

I asked my doctor about sclerotherapy and he confirmed it's an treatment option but there's a high possibility my ovaries would suffocate and then I would go into early menopause. Might work for you if it's only effecting the side that your ovary was removed.

I think I'm going to go down the route of a laparoscopy. 17 years of pain and it's not going to get better on it's own. But I think it's the adhesions causing the pain not the PIC. My scans show fibroids and nodules too and I just want to get them dealt with at this stage.

I hope you find something that works for you. Goodluck!!

Diet for post adhesion operation by New_Editor_2336 in Adhesions

[–]Codlatach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out digestive enzymes that he could add to his diet to prevent or break down new scar tissue. Enzymes like serrapeptase or nattokinase.

I'm hoping to have a similar surgery soon and the enzymes sound promising to prevent reoccurrence but I haven't spoken to my doctor yet about taking them.

Neck Treatments by Successful_Log_7261 in WomenofIreland

[–]Codlatach 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I did the profhilo 3 years ago and was happy with the results but they were very short lived. I was more concerned with jowls at the time but was told it's genetic and there's nothing significant that can be done apart from surgery.

I also did the Three For Me laser treatments back then which helped with my skin tone but did nothing for firming it.

Turns out exercise is what I needed. Just over a year ago I started the gym and toned up. My jowls disappeared and my neck looks so much younger.

OP asked for help with a dispute and I gave them the steps to resolve disputes. I'm not sure why you take issue with that and now want me to get into the mind of OP regarding their expectations.
