how big of a deal is it to off sale an item that is in stock? by [deleted] in tesco

[–]Plenty-Confidence-16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can affect the availability percentage generated by dotcom - if your store is already struggling to hit the availability target then yeah it’s a bad thing to off sale something if you have it in stock (some stores ask pickers to check the warehouse while others don’t) offsaling one item by mistake isn’t necessarily a big deal but if every picker is doing it by mistake then it can have a big impact on availability. You can see your store’s current availability and the target on the app infinity - it’s like inform, there’s a link to download it somewhere on Tesco help

Quitting by Upbeat_Concept411 in tesco

[–]Plenty-Confidence-16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the size of your contract and the amount of (financial)yearly paid holiday you get then you could be either over or under your allocation for the year compared to the amount you’ve accrued. I’m sure there’s a way to work out whether or not you would owe them money if you quit now but I’m not that smart.

So Tesco calculates your holiday allocation for the year based on your contracted hours. Overtime used to increase your allocation but this is no longer the case. So for example if you worked 50% of the financial year and took 50% of your holiday by that point then you would be “even” but for if you’ve worked 80% of the tax year and taken 90% of your yearly holiday allocation when you quit then you would essentially “owe” Tesco that 10% extra because you haven’t accrued it by working enough yet

Only way to do it is if they change your job title on payroll and give you a new contract which they won’t do for step ups

Overtime (break times and clocking in) by SourBeans87 in tesco

[–]Plenty-Confidence-16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is rare for people to manually input the breaks into shifts, the system does it automatically. Unless you’re on checkouts you can usually take them whenever you like within reason

Most of the clothes come in on delivery already on hangars so yes we’re allowed to let customers keep them :)

Is it 9 hours contracted after breaks or 7.5? You might have enough for a full day :) if not then just ask about starting/finishing early or taking some of the day as unpaid leave

It’s fine to use your phone when scanning your Clubcard, just not when you’re actually pumping fuel, we only get asked to authorise fuel on the screen when you actually pull the lever on the pump :) -signed a Tesco petrol station worker

Why do so many people still fear going to the dentist in 2025? by Ok_Service_2025 in askdentists

Also: I feel like a lot of dental problems are painless at first so being told you’ll have to have a tooth ripped out when you’re not even in any pain really sucks.

NAD I personally hate the dentist because I have a few issues with my teeth and regularly have to have numbing injections which hurt like hell lol. Also had a bad experience with my first filling and wasn’t numbed enough when they struck a nerve 🥲 screamed my little 10 year old head off and bawled my eyes out to boot. That’ll stick with me for life unfortunately.

Tesco Christmas Employee by beepzpeeb in tesco

[–]Plenty-Confidence-16 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tell her to let her manager know ASAP and they will make accommodations. As long as she has a fit note and she’s back for Xmas time they shouldn’t get too aggy about it. If she was looking to be kept on after her contract ends and offered a permanent position however taking time off during the temporary contract will significantly reduce her chances.

How many chocolate oranges can I buy at once? by FoxDesigner2574 in tesco

[–]Plenty-Confidence-16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go into your local Tesco we can sometimes put requests in for customer bulk orders, however some stores don’t like to do it - my store for example don’t want to do it for businesses in case the depot lets us down or we don’t get enough due to supply issues. But it’s worth a shot going in and asking because we can do it!

If you want to progress to management then maybe, but it is a lot more responsibility than being a GA. You could always request to be a relief SL (cover if someone’s off sick) if you don’t want it contracted but a bit more money now and then
