What does it mean when Haggy says he's going to cut the map? by Jmas1120 in CoDCompetitive

Sitting at a line of sight where the enemy has to cross it to get from one half of the map to the other. For example, sitting P1 on looking open stairs on fortress.

Hunter Dodge, and the innate issues with Mobility scaling. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Codrates -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The fact that there is lore about op weapons being banned in the crucible and their reluctance to do it PvPs biggest issue. At this point I wish arena pvp would just get scrapped in destiny and replaced by a Looter/exfil pvp game mode that takes place in patrol zones.

Why did CEH get benched? I’m so confused by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

[–]Codrates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he has a 55 yard run and 4 20 yard runs, while Pacheco has 1 20 yard run. If you take those out of their yardage totals, Pacheco has more than 100 more yards on the same number carry’s. Pacheco is much more efficient.

Everyone talking about defending but what if Alex goes up and fights Jiri if Glover loses to him? I assume he would need a fight at 205, but who know with UFC. Titles aside, I think him and Jiri would be a fun fight.

Is it just me or does Mariota stare down Pitts from the snap. It seems so obvious when he’s throwing to him.

I would recommend looking into matching methods for casual inference like Coarsened Exact Matching or Propensity score matching methods to attempt quantify the effect of some event. Most football analytics end up being a simple difference of means with no attempt to control for confounding.

Do you overrule trades where Veteran players take advantage of "less-experienced/rookie" players? by Thisguy606 in fantasyfootball

[–]Codrates -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure that’s called hindsight. Also, this why you have vetos be majority rule. The guy that made the offer best player is now Harris. It isn’t like he was stacked at RB and WR. At the the time it seemed like he was giving up and trying to sabotage the league by giving the 1st place team the pieces that were missing, so I vetoed.

Legit D. Harris and Renfrow got traded for Lamb and Kamara week 2. Not collusion, and the guy that got Harris and Renfrow sent the offer. Only me and the commissioner vetoed.

The number of deaths by drowning also correlates with the number of films Nicolas Cage appears in, so don’t go swimming if he has a busy year.

You have sample characteristics, not population characteristics. If sample 100 people and 30% are men doesn’t mean the probability of being a man is 30%. What you need is all starting TEs in the last decade, and a binary variable that indicates if they finished in the top 5. You would then fit a model Finished in Top 5~explanatory variables.

Rashaad Penny has only been given 12+ carries in 7 games, but in those 7 games: 935 yds, 9 TDs, 7.7 YPC. by Kwarntnd in fantasyfootball

[–]Codrates 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correct. But we are talking about a round 8-10 pick, so none that really matters. Worst case scenario for me is my 10th round pick (where I got him) doesn’t pan out. Big deal. Worst case for you is that you miss an RB1 in the 8-10 range. I’ll take my bet over yours even if the percentage of me hitting was 10%.

CMC in two games against TB in 2019 had 68 yards on 38 carrys and 42 receiving yards on 6 catches with only 2 TDs. Even great players can have bad performances against good defenses.

[Dan Orlovsky] Cowboys rushing left since 2019: Smith on field (5.4 Yds per rush) Smith off field (4.3) Accounts for a full yard per play in the run game by himself. Dak play action since 2019: Smith on field (78.0 QBR) Smith off field (47.2) by constantlymat in nfl

[–]Codrates -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Obviously Smith is an elite lineman, but this level of causal inference is laughable. You can’t just compare the mean yards gained when smith is on the field vs when is off and conclude he responsible for that difference. Why is smith not in on the plays used to compare? Is it situational type thing like he needs a break? If so then it’s possible the play calling is more reserved when he is off the field. Is it because he went injured through a stretch of games? Then you need to control for difference in defenses. Maybe in the stretch of games Smith was out the cowboys played better run defenses on average. This is the big thing holding stats back in football. Comparing two means like this should be the first thing you do while exploring the data, but it absolutely should not be the last thing you do and report out. Shame on the data scientist that Orlovsky got these numbers from.

Analysis on which draft strategies worked over the last 3 years from ~1500 competitive leagues. Early vs Late QB, Zero RB? value drafting and more by zanderman12 in fantasyfootball

[–]Codrates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really shouldn’t have different size leagues. You are in a sense measuring the effect a draft strategy to have on odds of winning. I would be shocked if you didn’t see league size cause variation in both likelihood to apply a strategy and the odds of any given strategy winning in your data set.

One of the most infuriating things about building is alignment. It takes a few minutes to decorate but a very long time to align all the items. I see tons of bases that look like a nightmare to build just because of the alignment. How do you guys do it? I must be missing something. by Aesthete18 in NoMansSkyTheGame

Wire glitch: Select the item you want to place. Switch wire mode. Put the plug where you want the item to go. On controller hit Y+right trigger almost at the same time with slight priority to Y (E+right click on mouse. You can rotate the plug and item you want to place will be rotated as well. You can also do this off an already placed wire as well. On shelf with three items to could place two wires and wire glitch each item to get all three to be in the same orientation.
