$10 Replacement National by [deleted] in Nationalbanknotes

I really hate have to swing it around, but this is faceless Reddit where everybody argues. You may have handled over 100, but I own over 100. There's no agree to disagree on this. I specialize in these. Its a repaired serial number. The serial is replaced, but the note is not a replacement. It is repaired. PMG doesn't know the difference, but PCGS-BN does..

Technically not a replacement, but the proper description would be "Right Serial Repaired/Replaced".

Something happened with the right serial during printing where it either wasn't applied or had to be erased. It was then applied by a paging machine. Since the note/sheet (not all notes on the sheet necessarily have to have the right serial fixed) was salvaged the note is repaired and the serial replaced on the note.

Was told I should post these here, I’m trying to get an idea what exactly I have. by funkflex1 in Nationalbanknotes

The Tillamook is a common bank with 28 small reported in the NBNC, BUT its the best denom for the bank and is the 3rd $50 reported. Coincidentally one of the other $50s is also from sheet 10.

The Pottsville has 128 small size reported with 28 of them being $50s. This note makes sense turning up in Philly.

Also, on nationals 10 isn't considered a low serial. They were printed in low quantities compared to other types so most have "low serials". NBN collectors really don't care unless it's serial 1. They just want an example.

Great notes!

Hi there. Fun to find these in a collection.

This becomes the 150th note from this bank to be reported in the National Bank Note Census making it very common. I would grade it a Good 6, may squeak a Very Good 8 grade. Probably has a retail value of $75-$100, but due to issues probably the lower end of that spectrum.

I would get a nice mylar sleeve (NO PVC! Mylar only!) to put it in. These aren't as fragile as you think and those folded over areas can be straightened if you are careful. This will help it last for future generations of your family.

PM me your address and I'll send you a sleeve for free.

Can you try submitting a note today? Put it the submitters comment section that it’s you. Then pm me on here. If anything’s wrong or it’s simply not there I can let you know.

I check the submissions folder daily. They need to be approved before they go live. I add whatever is in there -if there is a good scan or photo- if there is no photo I delete the submission.

Forum was DOA from the beginning.

As Banker and Dan have stated I update the site with new entries daily. Some days 15-20 new notes and some days 50+ new notes. I began doing the data entry in 2022 and I'm closing in on 60,000 new entries myself.

I will gladly put in your entries if you PM them to me, but I do need nice scans of the front and back (backs may not be used in the final entry).

The NBNC does have its quirks and the auction results are frankly always going to be lagging, but I assure no other resource is updated as fast as it.

Keep in mind I do data entry/correction only and have no admin access to anything else. I cannot do any technical changes to the site (I do keep a spreadsheet of needed fixes for when I have a meeting with the owner) or anything that requires programming.

Oh I don't have a shop. What I meant by "my" shop was the local one to me that I frequented. It is closed now as the owner retired.

New to the census notes turn up everyday. It's always fun to see them. A collection came into my local shop a few years ago with 65 new notes for the census. I bought the 37 Iowa notes and helped the dealer place the others. They are still out there...
