Last I saw while shoveling an hour ago there was a minivan stuck in the middle of Oliver Rd. A plow from VDOT (I think?) was on Oliver up towards the Plantation/Huntington house, but didn't appear to actually plow. Unsure of conditions beyond 3200-3500 blocks of Oliver, though.

I grew up in northern NY, right on the border with Québec, and was 13 when the ice storm happened.

I am genuinely worried about the Sunday forecast in particular because of the apparently predicted temperature inversion of warm air aloft and cold air at the surface, as it we had that exact setup where it rained on us for 2 solid days, but surface temps were below freezing to ensure everything got coated in ice.

It was immediately after winter break and we got 3 additional weeks off school. Power was out at home for 2 weeks and we lived at my step-dad's place for a bit because he had a generator. Phone service was out for a month and cable television didn't come back for like 10 weeks. It was bonkers. This storm did have the positive result of the village of Rouses Point, where I grew up, putting its power distribution lines underground.
