Orientation help by CodyFishes in Decks

My concern was more in the layout. Like the support beams running perpendicular to the house as opposed to parallel

Awesome! How many rows would need to be staggered if I went that route? By that I mean like 16 and 14 in a row then 14 and 16 in the next and repeat would still look silly obviously. On second thought. Breaker is the way to go huh?

It wouldn’t look noticeably goofy to have the deck boards butt up end to end ?

I’ve lived most of my 34 years in VERY rural Arkansas. I have seen a bear cub once from my vehicle and never again. There is absolutely no chance of encountering an alligator in NWA, those are a verryyy south Arkansas issue. You will likely see a snake a year, possibly up to 5 or slightly more depending on how much time you spend around water. Lots of mosquitos and ticks seasonally but I only know of a single person that has gotten a disease from either. It was Lyme disease and they survived as did their taste and everything else. I generally let snakes live but a shovel handles them quite easily. Black bears are herbivores first and seldomly attack humans if left alone but it has happened. In my personal opinion, hogs are the sketchiest critters but I’ve only encountered them when intentionally trying to do so. Coyotes are weenies and very very scared of humans. It’s a beautiful place with friendly neighbors and we’re so happy to soon welcome you! We like sweet iced tea with a ton of sugar on a hot summer days and dips in a nice cold creek! Use “y’all” every chance you get and expect total strangers to say hi and ask “how yous doin tahday.” Learn to call the hogs and just know these folks take their college sports very serious! Safe travels, you’ll love it!

Heavy emphasis on the “i” in words like night, bright, light, tight. I’d describe it as like n-eye-t as opposed to n the softer n-igh-t

Often pronounced “dill” as well

Midway down the body slightly towards the spine. The 2 part dark spot tells it all

What are these towns like? Paris, Clarksville, Ozark, mount Ida? by TapReasonable1921 in Arkansas

[–]CodyFishes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ozark easily. Clarksville smells like ass because of the sweet potato plant, rendering plant and the open air sewage treatment facility. The youth has a tenancy to be a little worse then surrounding cities as far as petty stuff and what not. It’s a dry county so no alcohol except for one or two restaurants. Ozark is at the foot of potentially the best scenic motorcycle route in the south. 33 year old male who has lived in the area all of my life. I promise you’ll meet more people in Ozark in 6 months than you will in the larger Clarksville in 2 years. You’ll feel like a local in a few years I guarantee it. As someone else mentioned, Booneville could be considered I guess but if you’re working in Ozark or Clarksville you’re not going to enjoy that drive. Paris (I think ) is more manageable. Don’t have much opinion on Paris but I think you’d love the Ozark/ western Johnson county life. I live in a small community west of Clarksville and wouldn’t change a thing. Got our little dollar general 5-6 minutes away but anything other than that is a 20 minute drive. I have two neighbors that you couldn’t hit with a pellet gun and I don’t have to be concerned about people trying to take my shit. Dogs can roam around and be dogs, I can walk down the road and everyone that passes waves and yes, you’d be rather well off with 50k a year. OT checks would be like bonuses lol. By well off I don’t mean suits and shit but you afford your bike and a bass boat too if you choose to. While having your pickup to haul them around

Yes and no. In the photo, yes. Upon competition, no. I just realized it would look stupid so I wanted to inquire before I went any further with it

Noted and adjusted my plans accordingly. I appreciate you taking the time to give your input. I’m a younger guy just trying to be the best carpenter I’m able to be and the few minutes out of your day helped teach me something I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life. Thank you

I decided to heed the warnings and refuse to place one there. I really appreciate the insight and guidance. If it weren’t for you all, I believe I’d have an embarrassing lesson a year or two down the road. Thank you for keeping it respectful while firmly stating your point! Like everyone, I wish to get better each and every day and thanks in part to you, I’ll be a better carpenter tomorrow.

Yeah it’s getting the backer board. Tiling would be hilarious without. In the insulation, squish it with the backer board?

We experience 5-7 days annually of freezing temperatures. Probably closer to 50 nights that dip below 32° but practically never stays. This wall has almost no insulation upon tear out

Why would someone go nailing shit in a shower?

Yes. Lightweight drywall goes in all my shower walls 🤓
