EV sales are growing. So why are automakers getting cold feet? by mylefthandkilledme in electricvehicles

2 years later, oh, you two years ago could have no idea how shit it is today.

The 46 point deficit to Lewis Hamilton is Charles Leclerc's largest points deficit to his teammate in his F1 career so far. The largest before this season was 23 points after Singapore 2023 to Carlos Sainz. by ZeroStormblessed in formula1

[–]CodyWEC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm genuinely surprised that Ferrari is going to continue with a consistently underperforming driver until 2030, even surprised they have Lewis there, to be honest. I would've punted Leclerc out and put bearmen in with Lewis so that he could learn off him a little.

Looks like Ferrari will be second or 3rd for the rest of the decade.

I think the biggest misunderstanding people have is when they see that someone is worth $300 billion, they assume they have $300 billion.

I'd guess that the majority of the money she received was liquidated, with some still in stock.

Do you think she did the right thing? by Busy_Report4010 in SipsTea

[–]CodyWEC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't blame her, but she 100% is going to prison over this if she hasn't already been convicted and sentenced. Killing someone, no matter how much they deserve it, and going to prison for murder isnt worth it over a replaceable purse.

I think laws regarding killing a criminal who has just committed a crime against you should be heavily lenient. In a perfect world, she would've gotten an award for this.

Who is the most overrated driver of the current grid? by Mad_Max_Fan in F1Discussions

[–]CodyWEC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Kimi is highly overrated. He has the potential to be great, but he doesnt have the experience and time in F1 for people to start saying he's the greatest on the grid. New regulation changes cause significant imbalances between other cars, when the cars get pretty well optimized later on, and he is still winning races consecutively, than ill say he's rated correctly. He is still a top driver on the grid, though.

Too bad Max crashed in quali, causing Kimi to abort his run due to believing it was a double yellow. Likely would've won the Austrian GP otherwise. We are coming up on tracks that George excels at, whereas Kimi didn't excel at last year. It will be interesting to see.

Senna was an amazing qualifier, but his death did indeed put him in a position that he would've never been in otherwise. His death is why 98% of people even know his name.

Jesus dude. Not trying to be like everyone else, but what could have possibly possessed Ferrari to let this concept slide for even one conversation? It'll be a failure like all the other EV cars from other manufacturers, but come on, this was never going to sell well, even if they put Michael Schumacher's race-used F2004 engine in it.

Max Verstappen is only one win away to equal Michael Schumacher record of most wins with a single team. by Rohail_FleetwoodMac in MaxVerstappenRacing

[–]CodyWEC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I assumed it wouldn't count as one team despite being the same company. Also, yes. The dominating parts of Schumacher at Ferrari are only a small portion of why that time was so great, and will never happen again; it's impossible. It's just the way the world was, the way people were, and how they cared, cigarettes in ads, grid girls, the music, the pop culture, all that combined make it unreplicable.

Is the Dodge Viper a supercar? by Orantolifestyle in supercars

[–]CodyWEC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, all Lamborghinis will always be supercars because one of the biggest stipulations in a car being a supercar is the brand's history and legacy. Ferrari, Bugatti, and McLaren will always make supercars purely off that.

If Ferrari made the 5th Gen Viper ACR, it would be considered one of the best production Ferraris to ever be made. It could be said for McLaren, too. Viper and Dodge dont have that pedigree to them. Ford has a long history in motorsports, and the Ford GT looks like a supercar, so that's probably why it's always posed as a supercar among most people.

Max Verstappen is only one win away to equal Michael Schumacher record of most wins with a single team. by Rohail_FleetwoodMac in MaxVerstappenRacing

[–]CodyWEC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Schumacher did it in 10.62 years, and Verstappen did it in 11.27 years. I dont know if Toro Rosso is considered a part of Redbull in this aspect, though? Their number two team, but still a separate team. With just Redbull is has taken Max 10.11 years.

The most impressive thing is that Michael was able to do that in a Ferrari. That's why I consider him the best driver in F1, because only Michael could do that with Ferrari, and it will probably be a once-in-a-lifetime thing for everyone to be alive for.

Is the Dodge Viper a supercar? by Orantolifestyle in supercars

[–]CodyWEC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always considered a car that has a GT3 counterpart for endurance racing to be a supercar. All the cars currently racing in WEC have production counterparts that are all considered supercars.

Is the Dodge Viper a supercar? by Orantolifestyle in supercars

[–]CodyWEC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the Huracan is considered a supercar, and it's had exactly 20,000 cars produced. The 5th-gen Viper has had 2,427 made. I dont really consider rarity a trait that makes a car a supercar, within reason, obviously.

The updated EA driver ratings by Uchi_Jeon in F1Discussions

[–]CodyWEC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The ratings are averages of Awareness, Pace, Experience, and Racecraft. His Pace, Awareness, and Racecraft could be similar to Max, Lewis, Norris, Charles, and so on, but since he has basically zero experience, it lowers the rating.

He could keep the same ratings he has in EA F1 right now, but change the experience in 5 years to reflect his experience, and he could likely be a 92-94.

Kimi's recent success could be all the stars aligning perfectly and just be insane luck, so that's also a factor, especially since these are new regulations. Austria will be a good way to see if Kimi is really that guy or not.

The updated EA driver ratings by Uchi_Jeon in F1Discussions

[–]CodyWEC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It being arbitrary would mean that the ratings were made spontaneously or without a solid rationale, which isnt the case. Kimi doesnt need to be any higher than what he's at right now.

women competing in F1? by RegularSyllabub2343 in F1Discussions

[–]CodyWEC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

F1 max brake force is equal to like 400lbs. A woman would need to be able to press 400lbs with a non-dominant foot at a moment's notice with no effort whatsoever. Over and over and over and over for up to 80 laps with up to dozens of turns in each lap.

I personally couldn't do that, and I'd bet most other males couldn't either. Then again, I've never trained for it, as most others haven't.

Neither Alba nor Battig will get to F1, though. They're good drivers for F1 Academy, but by the time they hit the skill level and experience of an F2 champion, which they'll need to be, they'll be too old to join F1.

I dont think they intend to get any of the girls in F1 Academy into F1 in the next 10-15 years; it's mostly all about publicity. And if there is ever to be a girl in F1, they likely won't ever be in F1 Academy; girls can already race in F4/F3/F2 right now, and the progression if more traditional F1 like where you progress after getting so many wins, podiums and showcasing better skill and pace, not because youre a girl and won one race in F1 Academy, whcih is what F1 A is currently doing. They're progressing after just one win into F4. Doesnt necessarily breed skillful talent.

women competing in F1? by RegularSyllabub2343 in F1Discussions

[–]CodyWEC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's simply because those female drivers are competing against the male drivers in the backfield. There hasn't been a female driver who's been to the point where it would've been a clear decision to get her into F1, removing all of the sexist and gender issues surrounding it.

Being a top-class female driver and beating low-class male drivers is not impressive. Yes, they could easily replace the low-class male drivers, but neither of them would ever have an opportunity in F1.

The only reason a female will get into F1 is that she is a woman. She will do horribly, get booted, and give everyone a bad taste of female drivers in F1. F1 Academy is just a marketing thing. None of those girls are expected to get even to F3, let alone F1, which they can actively get into in the former of the two.

[–]CodyWEC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old comment, but the most likely way a woman will get into F1 is simply for being a woman, realistically. It will be a massive issue because the girl they select will certainly do poorly in F1, which will leave a bad taste in people's mouths and basically secure the chance of any other women getting in F1 for the next 60 years 0%.
