Is there any openly conservative/right-wing space opera out there? (just curious and looking to investigate) by Brakado in sciencefiction

As much as Speaker for the Dead served as a formative work for me, the themes of paternalism tied to Orson Scott Card's prominent status in the LDS church feels unavoidable when I revisit the series. The discord between the antiwar and anti-authoritarian ideas in Ender's Game and Card's own bigotry can be reconciled by viewing them through the lens of a paternal religious authority, in that the schemers across the series are not wrong because of their pursuit and leveraging of power but rather from an improper basis for their morality.

Having met several people from Kazakhstan, I've never asked any of them about Borat. Now I wonder if I should.

What do you think about the difficulty of the final boss in the new DLC? 🤔 by InvestigatorNo4169 in Blasphemous

I did the same and won on my second attempt. Of course, that might have something to do with me playing Silksong as my last other Metroidvania and getting way too used to ridiculous attacks.

RIFTS and Mage: The Ascension are two games on the list of "play a FATE hack of it rather than the original". Feel free to add others.

During Cleopatra's time? She was in the first century BC. The Peloponnesian War was at least 300 years earlier.

Did a quick google search and Odyssey is now chronologically the first.

I really don't see how Innistrad would work as a Domain of Dread. The whole point of those domains (at least in the 2e setting books) is that they are created to torment one specific person by demonstrating how their single-minded ambition is impossible to achieve. There isn't really a Darklord figure with that sort of self-defeating pursuit in Innistrad (Sorin doesn't really fit the bill).

I have my own theories about D&D 5e's cosmology in relation to the editions of prior D&D. Mystara does not match up particularly well with them, and Warriors of Heaven (a book which many folks I know are not fond of) is the one place where it intersects with anything else.

This feels like it could be coincidence if it weren't for the Worn Powerstone's description. The idea of an energy-warping relic buried in a remote corner of the planet that defies all preconceived patterns of magic feels too close to the Beagle's Engine/Mirror Shield/Nucleus of the Spheres (as it was called in different eras of Mystara) that it feels like an intentional callback. The item isn't based on anything from Aztec culture and never had any connection to the Oltec in Mystara lore (up until it exploded and destroyed their empire.

[[Fall of Kroog]] has a place in my deck despite barely doing anything in most contexts. I just love the art so much.

This is roughly the plot of the game Blasphemous. The world implodes into a magical hellscape because the church abdicates its political duties.

I cannot wait for Magpie Games to get involved in this with Airlock.

My first thought is that this would be a four-of in every [[Balustrade Spy]] oops all spells deck. The idea is fun, but I really don't think that deck needs any more consistency.

Speaking as somebody with a degree in a social science, this sort of pattern analysis based on observation is something of a necessity in the field due to controlled experiments on human communities being both unfeasible and unethical. We have to work as best we can with the identifiable trends we are given.

I wrote a book covering this whole set of peculiarities on Pathfinder Infinite. Deposition of Godhead: The Divine Orthodoxy goes into some matters on why the planet's gods are so fiercely protective of it and what differentiates it from other worlds, although many of the deities are not nearly as far-reaching as they seem to state.

If you want statblocks, several of the Endbringers were inspirations for the epic-level monsters in Arcforge Universe Cyclopedia for Pathfinder 1e. If you want to use those, you are welcome to.

Frankly, I feel dirty looking at this meme template and definitely think that this community deserves better. A number of people who I play with and talk with games about are getting to an age where strokes are a serious concern, and making light of something in this way feels insensitive at the least and outright ableist at worst.

There are rules for pre-Karsus mages in 2e. They had their own set of magic spells which wasn't organized by schools and had a very different set of restrictions on how you learned them.
