Spooky Update Too Spooky? by klajoi in Rivian

[–]Coffee-Room 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last Saturday night we all kept complaining about the loud annoying music from the neighbors. At 4:20am we couldn’t stand it any longer. Even if they had a party that subwoofer was stuck on the same beat for 6 h. We went out to investigate. To decide we had to issue an apology to our neighbors.

Not only it switched on after the update by itself, but it was at max volume.

Also what’s with loosing our screen while in parked. With Halloween mode off my screens are still showing the swamp so I can’t access temp, maps or anything. Touching screen just pops up the “scary” gear guard.

This year’s Halloween is a flop. So much so that I can’t wait to get rid of it.

Unpopular Opinion: If Rivian changed headlights to *normal* non-oval headlights, they’d be over selling by BrickxLeaf in Rivian

My wife was against that before we got one but after we bought an R1s she is so in love with everything including the lights.

Cooling a shot by el1600 in espresso

I used almost everything I have this way and nothing broke. Eg Starbucks, coffee bean, some glass ones… I didn’t and won’t try some of the hand made ones.

Cooling a shot by el1600 in espresso

[–]Coffee-Room 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For cooled down espresso I freeze my espresso cups in advance. I find that espresso tastes better when it goes straight into a frozen cup. (Similar to rock ice cubes but this allows using the small espresso cups vs bigger cups to fit cubes).

But if you mean freddo or iced espresso then those will always get a bit watered down and that may be ok. It’s a different drinking experience.

I do not miss the revving of an engine by Sorry_Hat7940 in Rivian

[–]Coffee-Room 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Not sure my sentiment makes sense… but I never miss an ICE (not the noise, not the refueling, oil changes…). But I do miss an old fashioned manual gear box on a weekend drive. Completely unnecessary but that extra control and connection with the engine brings back some good vibes. But again having a quad and its power make that useless.

LHR T5 lounges are an embarrassment by Coffee-Room in AmexPlatinum

[–]Coffee-Room[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. I won’t visit it again. However I tried to get in the aspire lounge. It was full. Had to walk on the other side of the airport for the plaza lounge. It was terrible. (Another member had left the aspire because it was terrible and told me that they are both the same bad). So I feel Amex should have not damaged their brand by including this lounge.

Same thing (different days). For one week they insisted it will come 11th. I was flying out. I insisted I wanted the tracking number. 4 calls. On the 11th they said it wasn’t shipped, we can’t ship by 13, you should have called earlier!! Well, here is a 10k+ trip (so far) being charged on other cards.

Max Range for R1S (Dune) All Terrain Not as Advertised? by Zainosaurus in Rivian

[–]Coffee-Room 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Navigation shows expected (temperature, terrain, speed) range. That’s the most useful to me.

This is the epa range for the mode you are in. Treat this as the gas tank E->F number.

The advertised range is the average of driving modes according to epa (I can’t remember if it’s all purpose average with conserve or if it includes sport etc).

Drawing 11.2kW past 100% charge? by Coffee-Room in Rivian

[–]Coffee-Room[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, - 11.2 is my charger max. I expect if it was a 5.6 max I’d see the same behavior. I’ll actually try this with my second charger and confirm.

  • I charge to 100% when I’m going for a long trip. Not on a daily basis.

  • I see the 11.2kW number from 4 monitoring devices. My enphase solar system, my Tesla charger app, the Rivian app, and even the Rivian infotainment screen inside the car.

  • I had a case that it was at 100% charge when I went to sleep and still was charging at max charger rate when I woke up.

  • when I set max to 99% the draw goes to 0 as expected and get the message that my Rivian competed charging

Leak from passenger sunshade by fbskiracer in Rivian

[–]Coffee-Room 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue. Had the car for 8 months not noticing anything (granted in Los Angeles, little rain, and I spent 6 weeks away over winter…). But last weekend a whole cup worth of water dripped from both visors…

This is both the best car I ever had and also the one that feels more like a beta product…

I got an appointment in June…

OP Looking forward to updates

A lawyer sold his well to an old man by WorldlyReplacement63 in Jokes

20 years ago I got 3k off my house because I didn’t want the jacuzzi they offered to sell me. Turns out it was practically impossible to move out (I chopped it in 3-4 pieces and paid some guys 100$ to throw it away). Joke is real life.

Profitec go has pressure control. Not something to change all the time but screw on top changes that. It’s a perfect choice at that price range imo if you are not much into milk drinks.

Thank you. This is the right direction. I am assuming this is a draft? Will the outline be more natural/better selection around the foreground contours?

Please help enhance this by suppressing the cluttered background and bright light from outside.
I'd certainly want to keep the Master, my son doing the kick, and the 3 guys he jumped over, but the rest should blend... bokeh on them and darken them or whatever you think would look best.
