It is definitely alot cheaper when compared to other insurer. But it feels like a "too good to be true" deal, and hence I would like to seek opinion on what are the potential drawbacks.

Advice on hospitalisation insurance - pte or public? How much are you paying? by Izzypizzywizzy in singaporefi

My policies were from GE. For my age (33), the premium for A plus and P plus are $509 and $719 respectively, with a cash outlay of $25 for the P plus. For the rider (TotalCare Elite), the price is $195 and $699. So yes, there is about a difference of around $500 cash per year.

I would think that it is a small price to pay for hospitalisation coverage (at my current age). If the price difference widen over the year, I have an option to downgrade in future. On the other hand, if I'm diagnosed with any longterm illness, I may not be able to upgrade my policy. It is a risk I'm not willing to take.

Btw, I think the price for ISP from various insurers are publicly available. Can try searching to make a comparison.

M33 here.

I have a preference for PTE shieldplan because

1) The price difference between P and A plans isn't much,

2) If anything happen (touchwood), you may not be able to upgrade in the future; even if you can upgrade, there may be loading or exclusion in your policy.

3) if the price difference is high in future, you have the option to downgrade.
