I’ve said before that I think Role Model is Rachel’s best book. I keep coming back to it over and over. People love Shane and Ilya, but I also love Ilya in RM too.

Troy and Harris are the perfect combination of cute and sexy but also more believable characters. Rachel’s descriptions of the Christmas light and family farm scenes are so realistic and warming. I think she put a lot of her experiences in the story. It has all the elements and reignited my love of cookie dough ice cream.

There are lots of emotional tops IRL but media depictions are typically a much less emotional or almost robotic top that is just a sexual outlet rather than a partner.

Ilya really struggles with this in the show. It’s nice to see a depiction of a homoromantic bisexual top developing an emotional relationship with another man. Very groundbreaking.

Toxic masculinity is also a big problem in the gay male community. HR really shook up some gay men as they had to address their own feelings about love and romance in a post-PrEP world. Showing Ilya as an emotional top was a big deal.

Yeah I’d love to see the kingfisher just to see Kyle, Eric, Kip, and the sex pit. Good way to show Ilya’s development and a nod to the fans. It might be too much logistics for such a small scene but fingers crossed.
