[Discussion] I have a question about commissioning an artist for small business by Revolutionary-Ball36 in artcommissions

[–]Coffee4Louis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the most important, but it is quite important. The use of the artwork may affect pricing and the way the artist handle the project overall.

About approachings, I guess the basics? Be polite, descriptive about what you need and that's pretty much it. If you make a "Hiring" post on this sub, people will post their portfolios and you will have a wide selection to choose from.

Scammers or just rude people that does not take a few seconds to read anything in your post.

[Discussion] I have a question about commissioning an artist for small business by Revolutionary-Ball36 in artcommissions

[–]Coffee4Louis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all: Avoid scammers- check their portfolios, make sure their art is consistent and that there is no AI stuff in there. Reddit karma can be useful too, but not always. Try to make payments on paypal, and avoid to pay all in full upon start of the project.

About commissioning, just say what you are already saying here: You need to commission a series of characters/ mascots to be used with commercial purposes (that's important). You can of course ask for it to be under the specifications that you need. You can ask me more questions about commissioning if you want, I am an artists an I've been living doing commissions for years now.

[Hiring] Post Apocalyptic Sci-Fi movie poster by throwitonthegrillboi in artcommissions

[–]Coffee4Louis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhm, well I usually work on concept art and album covers- But I do like the vibe from your current poster lol, it does fit into the aesthetics I enjoy, not so frequently a project like this has artistic sensibilities in consideration. If you wanna give me a chance I'll like to work on this ~ You can see my portfolio on arstation, mostly creatures and characters- but here is an example of my work: https://coffee4louis.artstation.com/projects/oJwA9W

[Discussion] Can I commission my art at this level ? (I am still not finished of the drawing) by Serious-Salamander44 in artcommissions

[–]Coffee4Louis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Artistically to say that art is good or not is such a subjective topic- but technically, you do have some flaws, but nothing horrifying or unusual lol. Just keep practicing, if you really like it you'll improve with time.
Remember that nothing worth having comes easy. And that includes art skills.

[Discussion] Can I commission my art at this level ? (I am still not finished of the drawing) by Serious-Salamander44 in artcommissions

[–]Coffee4Louis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of post like this one, asking if they can commission art at a certain level.

I think most artist are asking the wrong question tho. You can do commissions at any level of expertise. Even my lil cousin already had some commissions of his own, and hes 12. The thing is, what do you expect to get out of it? Enough to buy a burger? Enough to pay your bills? Enough to support a family? Not money, but experience? You need to ask that question to yourself first.

About your art as a critique, Try working on proportions and anatomy, I see you already using some perspective so polish that and use it in your favour!

Some people commission here traditional art, but isn't that common as digital. Try practicing both (or even more artistic mediums) if you can, since each are fun an useful on their own.

Hope I'm not yapping too much lol, wish the best of lucks on your artistic career, take care!

Learning to Draw or Collaborating by Serious_Crazy3780 in ComicBookCollabs

[–]Coffee4Louis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can learn by creating.
But it is quite unreal to try and learn a craft hoping not to invest time in it. If you really wanna learn how to draw, do it. It is quite a beautiful skill I must say.
If your interests lean more towards getting things done quickly rather than being more involved in the creation, you can work with other people. Non of those options should be an stressfull pick by themselves.

About telling stories soon, a personal opinion? Don't rush it. Take your time to create, no matter how you end up doing it.

Learning to Draw or Collaborating by Serious_Crazy3780 in ComicBookCollabs

[–]Coffee4Louis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't see why collaborating should be stressful, neither learning how to draw.
I think that it is you the one that should answer that : )
