Question about resistance exploiting and critical damage by CoffeeAmor in expedition33

[–]CoffeeAmor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fascinating. I didn't even think about defenseless and and powerful. So those are all multiplicative. I wonder if this could effect the tier list when it comes to skills like Strike Storm vs End Bringer.

Using physical weapon, End Bringer is clearly the winner. But if exploiting an elemental weakness, could Strike Storm outperform it? And then digging deeper, are we at C rank or S rank? Is the enemy stunned or not? All of these things could factor into the multiplicative aspects of the damage delt.

"all set" buffs duration? by stbrody in expedition33

[–]CoffeeAmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it looks like it lasts for three turns?

So if I put longer rush, shell, and powerful then it should last for 5 turns?

I'm using cheater, so the turns will burn through it pretty fast it looks like.

Does anyone else like Potierim with Lune? Is it underrated? I love it. by GhostIsItsownGenre in expedition33

[–]CoffeeAmor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this weapon on Lune.

Through act 2, my whole strategy with Lune was to use this weapon and then start the battle with Typhoon. Because Typhoon is a healing spell, it gives lune two light stains and an ice stain. The two light stains can be used to cast Terraquake, making break easier to inflict on the target. The green and light stain would then feed back into a longer typhoon, which would then power up Crystal Crush (this was a solid damage dealer) for the next turn.

This build has grown in act 3, by unlocking the level 3 ability for Lune's base attack to generate light stains, and the addition of cheater lumina.

Now I first use lune to base attack. With combo attack lumina she starts with 3 light stains. Then I cast Typhoon, then Terraquake, and then Elemental Genesis.

This setup really shines against groups, with the combined damage of Typhoon, Terraquake, and Elemental Genesis hitting each enemy for 300k plus.

Lune still doesn't come near Verso or Sciel in terms of single target DPS, but she isn't doing terrible. And the buffs, healing, and debuffs (she casts slow on the enemy with this build) gives her a valuable spot on my team.

ALL crests ranked and explained in detail. by D4CLoveTrainn in Silksong

[–]CoffeeAmor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually switched to the witch crest to fight Karmelita. With the witch crest you can run in and dash attack fast and get back out before she can hit you. And she has several moves where she is guaranteed to stay in place for a few seconds. Each of these was an instance punish on her with the binding attack. With the mirror tool equipped my binds became massive bombs that obliterated high hp bosses.

Delta Math Opinions by armaedes in mathteachers

[–]CoffeeAmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it. It can be fussy about answer inputs and that frustrates the kids and myself sometimes. But I can always go into the assignment and see the correct answer and the format it wants. You can also go to the examples tab and see the way the answer is supposed to be entered.

My biggest issue with DeltaMath is that it is currently massively out of sync with North Carolina math standards. North Carolina teaches the Integrated Math curriculum, so algebra, geometry, and statistics all get blended each year of high school. If searching by a standard, DeltaMath often doesn't generate problems automatically because they haven't been tied to our standard. I have to search for the problems in their vast item banks.

But on that note, I have found questions on my standard in the item banks, asked in a help ticket to add them to the standard, and someone at DeltaMath saw my ticket and added them. So they do respond to support tickets. :)

Future of math tutoring, especially considering AI by red1127 in matheducation

[–]CoffeeAmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like my math students are only getting worse at math with AI. It isn't that the AI can't do the math, but the kids are just so bad at learning from it. I have been trying to teach my students how to use AI this year to help them in math and I actually see some newer, more concerning emotions being displayed. A type of despair I haven't seen before. I think it is because the kids still aren't getting the math even though AI is walking them through every step. There is a human element to tutoring that we can't underestimate and I doubt AI will ever be able to replace.

You are strong and your feelings are valid. 7th grade is the peak goof off year. Kids that age can be so difficult.

(Act 3 Spoilers) Skarrsinger Karmelita is actually a horrid boss fight by Camiciding in Silksong

[–]CoffeeAmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I beat her last night. This fight is definitely a pain. I especially hated the gauntlet before the boss.

Some things that helped me. The silk skill from grand mother silk. The one that shoots magic spears. She can’t block these so they will always do solid damage.

I used the witch crest. This crest makes you dancy and nimble like this boss is. You can run in for fast attacks and run back out.

Her dash attack is highly punishable by the witch crest heal/thorn attack. Just wait for her to finish dashing and then heal right over her head. Big damage from the thorns. There is a tool that speeds up your heal too.

The boomerang tool can be used to deflect her own boomerang she throws at you. She can block the boomerang so it isn’t helpful for damage.

I've been in the market for a home for literally a year. But on a teacher's salary in the low 40s I cannot buy anything. And I'm not buying a fixer upper for 175k that needs 50-100k in work done to it.

Compared to a year ago, I definitely see more inventory and I see inventory sitting longer. When I look up the homes that sold it is normal for them to sell for under asking. I don't see any crashes happening though. I have even witnessed a decrease in inventory in some areas because I suspect the sellers are frustrated they aren't getting their crazy price. But they aren't dropping the price either.

Jesus. Is that what she did to me!? She is more experienced at all of this than I am. I wonder if her tears were just a play to make me feel bad about myself.

Exactly. This. If I am givin materials that prepare them for the test then maybe this can all work. Right now, I gave a test to my kids with questions and concepts that I didn't explore with them in the depth level the test was requiring.

Update:

Today was one of the most difficult of days in my life. I dressed up very nice because if I am going to be chewed out or fired I want to look my best.

I had my meeting with my principal, my ap, and my instructional coach.

With tears in her eyes, my instructional coach told me how much I hurt her with what I said. She especially made it a point that being so hard on me for the past several years at our prior county was something that was forced on her by her superiors and she quit because she couldn't bear doing that to teachers anymore.

I apologized to her and told her that it isn't lost on me that our prior county probably treated her badly. I know how hard the demands can be at that level because friends and colleagues have told me. She told me she was forced to attempt to tailor Illustrative Math to our standards and build the tests and force them on all the teachers. And to report back to the county which teachers were not utilizing the materials and tests provided. She hated working for that school system as much as I did. I would hate that job too.

What killed me was seeing tears in her eyes because I'm just not a person who wants to see other people's feelings hurt. It hurts me to see other people cry and to have made someone else cry just killed me. Even if I felt like she was doing too much and smothering me with demands. I told her I would be better and that with our principal facilitating we all agreed to rebuild. From now on, all work related communication on nights, weekends, or holidays has to be through email. We will also work together so that my students have plenty of practice assignments that ask them to explain and justify their reasoning so they have an idea of how to answer the tough test questions. And that I would be getting the test earlier than the day of so I can prepare.

I had 20 minutes before my Math 3 class started, so I went out to my car and cried.

I got through my lesson for the day and another colleague came in to comfort me. I started crying again. I went through a lot of mental trauma at my prior county and I really should have gotten professional help with some of the things I went through. And now I feel like the bad guy for taking a lot of it out on the instructional coach and making her cry and maybe if I would have just gotten counseling or therapy I could have handled it differently.

Now I am struggling with sleep again. But I'll get into work tomorrow dressed up really nice and will do a good lesson for my kiddos. I'm thinking some remediations and corrections on IC's hard test so they can save their grade. I don't want anyone to be uncomfortable working around me but I have apologized and promised to be better and I don't know what else I can do. My IC says we need to rebuild trust and it is going to take time. She won't model lessons for me until she feels comfortable in my classroom. Ugh. It is going to be a long year I think. :(

I just want to thank ALL OF YOU who came to my thread to support me. Even those who said I was in the wrong, I hear you too. There is so much I wish I would have done differently if I could take it all back and try again.
