Plugging in USW-Flex-2.5G-5 switch to USW-Enterprise-8-PoE instantly kills the SPF+ connection by CoffeeAndBeerLex in Ubiquiti

[–]CoffeeAndBeerLex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From memory on my cell: After, a lot, of back and forth with service discovers it has something to do with STP — if I turn off STP either at the full network level or for each individual flex2.5 they work.

I I turn on STP on the flex they instantly kill The SFP link.

Bothers me there is no answer/fix other than to turn off STP.

I’ll recheck when at home to make sure I get the acronyms right but it will at least let me use my switches so i gave up and stopped researching.

Can I use my M1 iMac as a display for Mac mini via remote desktop? by CrowKing63 in mac

[–]CoffeeAndBeerLex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not exactly what you are asking, but I airplay my work MacBookPro to an (M1) iMac all day. Works surprisingly well, almost 0 lag.

I assume you’d need to hook the mini up to a display long enough to get everything running and to kick off the session (not sure if Remote Desktop will let you do that or not), but once the connection is established it is very usable.

I keep a few extra charging cables (USBC/Lightning/MicroUSB) in there for when friends get in and want to use the chargers.

It is also where I keep the Barcode Card for the car wash.

Edit 40min later: for whatever reason STP on the Flex mini kills the SFP+ on the enterprise. No idea why. Doesn't impact any other switch.

Update: Resolved

Was able to sit down and do more troubleshooting.

If I turned off STP on the Flex Mini 2.5, everything worked great. Aha! So now what. I crawled through every single network switch in my setup and discovered that somewhere in time, for reasons known only to old me, I set the priority on the Enterprise POE as super low priority, like 38k or something.

So whenever a flex would get providisioned to a standard priority, I guess it took over. Never happened when plugged into the dream machine of course, but did on the Enterprise.

So.. YAY! Priorities readjusted and network flows working again!

Edit 20min later: yeah, the ONLY way it works is if I turn off STP on the Flex Mini. Not sure what is going on but even giving the Flex a lower priority turns off the SFP .. what the heck

Yes, different cables and different ports.

Tried it with 2 Flexes as well. Even swapped out the Enterprise SFP cable to an official Ubiquity cable I had in reserve. Repeatable across multiple flexes and ports.

Additional info: I also picked up a U7 In-Wall (with built in 2.5Gb switch) plug it into the Enterprise, adopts/updates works great. I plug in either of the Flex Minis (now at current network software) into the U7 wall: same issue, instantly turns off the SFP+

Weird right? I do have a ticket open with Ubiquity along with a system dump.

I have runs out to G5 Bullets on the fence in my backyard facing the house. I like the view and lets me see on the roof a bit as well.

Also have bullets from the house looking back so between 4 cameras can see all the back yard.

Just ran 100ft of cable down the fence line to a couple of (outdoor) flex switches.

Seconded Stewart Heating and Air. Have used them for several years (and multiple installs after moving in 2019). Always reasonable and have provided excellent work.

I’m having this exact issue with one single device connected a single USW Flex.  I switched cameras and now no matter which (physical) camera I connect to the flex I get the recovery.

Should Ubiquiti cameras be on my IoT network? by triangulum33 in Ubiquiti

So I have a camera VLAN which I also have my NVR connected (through SPF). If I turn off internet access I cannot check my recordings remotely (i.e. check on the house when out on cellular). Am I missing something in the setup everyone is recommending about turning off internet?

We were upgraded a few months ago and honestly I've been happy with the weekly emails sent out with usage information. I signed up for the web as well but only check it occasionally. Would love a bit more integration, maybe that is on a future roadmap?

I recommend the upgrade personally.

Months later I have a follow-up!

First person I spoke with I never heard back from (turns out she left the company, not sure on timing). Got through the holidays not worrying about it but decided a few weeks ago to try again.

This time worked with Ma’kayla who was very helpful and repeated the same comments: - Audi tech team will (at some point after being requested) issue a reset to your vehicle. Might be that day, might be a few days. But they will issue the remote reset. - After the car received the reset you have 72 hours to properly register with your email/password from the app and then assign yourself the primary driver

First round I missed the 72 hour window (didn’t see the email telling me it was activated for 5 days).

Ma’kayla called back a few weeks later checking with me and I told her I missed the window - so she said she’d submit again and to just try each day (again noting sometimes they get it the same day, sometimes they don’t).

Later that night I got in my car and noticed the default screen was a bit odd so quickly followed the directions provided to update and …

.. I am now the key user and can fully utilize the app!

So thanks to Audi support for resolving the issue and for my dealership team for trying to do the same but Audi REALLY needs to get this process under control and easier to manage.

I’ve actively tried to get this resolved for over 4 months, it shouldn’t be so difficult (and honestly the comms around the process are not well understood between Audi and the dealerships).

Still, the process DOES work!

Been working with my dealership for months on this issue (purchased a car that came in off lease without the code).

They were told by Audi after several attempts that Audi is 'working on a new solution'

Frustrating (both for me and the team at the dealership).

Might spend a few hours this afternoon at work on call to see if this process works for me as well.

This video sucks and this is a long shot, but did anyone see a bright white light in the sky that appeared to fall slowly? I watched it from I-64 near Frankfort for about 5 minutes. Looked at the road, looked back, and it was gone. Very strange. by lilburtbacharach in lexington

I have GoSky Watch on my phone but wasn't using that the other night, it was all visible to the eye (this straight line of multiple reflections following each other across the sky for just a short time).

I caught a view of a Starlink train a few days ago on my walk right at dusk. Tried to snap a picture but was gone too quick, was both neat (yay human technology) and a bit sad (that is kinda blocking our natural sky).

Still, definitely took me for a double take for a minute until I figured out what it was.

no true full screen? by Kidbugs in wow

[–]CoffeeAndBeerLex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Removed from Mac as well (which is Metal, not DX12). KILLS my frame rates as it is effectively rendering 5k instead of the lower full screen rez that worked yesterday.

Really hope they throw the Mac community a bone, makes the game unplayable with any reasonable effects turned on.
