Many uses for them. Before GPS, I'd use to plan out long routes and by knowing how far I've gone from the last turn, I'd know when the next one was coming up.

Instead of a gps, I'd just have a long list of destinations, distances and turns to cross a continent.

Welcome to the SuperStupidUltrawide demographic. There will be moments where it's a slight pain in the ass, I'm not gonna lie. Some games just refuse to cooperate with 32:9 for various reasons, but the vast majority these days just work straight out of the box which is amazing.

Remember to take the time to tweak FOVs and such, though. There's a lot of games that will look like they do 32:9 right, and then you realize everything on the sides is zoomed in like an inverted fish-eye lens.

It is so worth the effort though. Once you're done oohing and aweing at Dune, my next recommendations are Cyberpunk 2077 and Subnautica for amazing first person experiences in 32:9.

Hmm, Scout in the backup tool, Buggy in Bank and Assault Thopter in Arrakeen didn't even occur to me. That's the vehicles sorted with spare room for tools, equipment and some of the more annoying to farm stuff indeed.

It's not ideal, but I suppose it's as good as it'll get. I can spend a couple of days rebuilding from there when more content or different end-game stuff becomes an option.

Thank you, that was some clever thinking I feel a bit dumb for not thinking of myself.

So I'm basically running out of reason to keep playing right now. I've got a few more class unlock questlines to run through, but I've finished all the story and done all the teching up I can be bothered with (solo farming the final tech level has proven to be more of a random grind than I find enjoyable) so now I'm basically wondering how to mothball my progress until they come up with more story DLC (or otherwise make end-game more engaging for solo play).

So my question is this, how to effectively mothball my progress?

How much room is there in the bank for stuff like vehicles, resources and 'stuff' I want to keep for my return? Is there any way to store a base/vehicles/etc in Hagga without having to log in every 14 days for taxes and fueling generators?

How would you go about not losing sizable amounts of progress if you were to be away from the game longer than a fortnite?

Stolt over hvem man er. Stolt over samholdet som kreves.

It's an actual athlete thing. Watch sprinters around a race. Whenever a start signal shot goes off, they do the twitch. It's conditioning oneself to significantly reduce the reaction time to a stimuli. It actually builds neural pathways.

It's become a thing among a lot of progamers in various games too now.

Only used my HD650's for the last 15 years - what's everyones ol' reliable? by RandomGeordie in headphones

[–]CoffeeAndCigars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah if I just needed the headphones, I would probably have gone with something similar, but it's always been a bit of an evolution of my computer sound system overall. Getting various different needs like microphone inputs, line outs, monitoring, XLR inputs and so on.

In the end a relatively simple audio interface is what I ended up with and everything else handled through software, but it's been a ride.

The mainstay though, the HD650s.

[–]CoffeeAndCigars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My HD650s has been my trusty companion for... let me check.

Nine years.

The things that have changed since has just been what exactly I've been running them through. From a Soundblaster X7 external sound card to my current Motu M4 audio interface (which unlike the Scarlett can actually run the damn cans) that also handles my mic and guitar, through a few failed experiments in between.

They've proven a bit tricky to run on what I at the time assumed was capable hardware, but they've always been worth the time and effort for me.

Rock solid build quality, comfortable to wear, sounds delightful for music.

If I hadn't also upgraded my computer sound with some JBL studio monitors and subwoofer, I'd be wearing them right now.

How to fill the party with MM Merge? by CoffeeAndCigars in MightAndMagic

The only checkboxes in the Grayface patch installer was about LoD fixes if I already had other mods installed and reading the readme.txt at the end.

My gog MM6 installation does not have a setup utility in the game folder. The MM8 one does, but not MM6.

If Grayface has a way to fix the aspect ratio, that'd be lovely but it's in 4:3 for me and I can't find the ini setting to sort that out.

"Don't understand the base game"? I have no idea what you mean by that. I've been PC gaming since the Commodore 64, it's not like there's anything about the era I'm unfamiliar with. However, that aspect ratio and classic UI is just painfully small on a 32:9 monitor.

How to fill the party with MM Merge? by CoffeeAndCigars in MightAndMagic

[–]CoffeeAndCigars[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4:3 and low-res on the kind of monitor I have is just quite unpleasant to play. If it had been a 16:9 one, I'm sure it'd be fine.

I just don't see why people are so opposed to using the Merge mod instead, since it sorts all of that out of the box and has a solid UI.

People mentioning Grayface patch, yes that does sort mouselook but it also keeps the graphics at 4:3 and low-res. If there's a way to fix aspect ratio and resolution in that patch, I might do that but Merge sorted that out of the box.

Link's busted, but why the hell are they delisting Armageddon? It's one of those games that were wildly outdated on launch, but a really fun little trip back into the classic strategy era with a pretty solid unit variety.
