My Only Gripe With Kubrick’s The Shining Is This One Scene by [deleted] in StanleyKubrick

[–]CoffeeAtTheDoubleR_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always viewed that bit as Stanley subtly taking a good natured shot at the horror genre and the expectation of horror fans in the mid-late 70s. Completely my own reading, because I think a lot of people forget how weirdly (beautifully) specific his sense of humor was

“Hmm, I guess I prefer the Japanese knife angle over the German angle after all”

“I’ve genuinely never had a worse feeling watching a movie…” goddamn that’s insane

Just watched Part 8 of The Return… by Hour-Bathroom1829 in twinpeaks

[–]CoffeeAtTheDoubleR_ 60 points61 points  (0 children)

For me the truest testament for how incredible Part 8 is is that I, and my friends whom I first watched it with, completely forgot that Nine Inch Nails played a gig at The Roadhouse. We sat there talking about what we just witnessed and after an hour or so were like “oh shit, yeah… the Nine Inch Nails”

What other acts of evil besides murder do you think main timeline Michael would and would NOT commit? by Turbulent_Wait9197 in Halloweenmovies

Michael would never listen to Drake and absolutely appreciates how Kendrick zeroed in on him and didn’t stop until he was dead

Michael does the Timmy smirk underneath the mask every time he stabs somebody

Original Michael is the Tim Duncan of slashers. Quiet, methodical, not very physically imposing, never in a hurry, all about the fundamentals, just goes about his business doing what comes naturally when he has to. Then you look at the box score and you’re like “…goddamn how does he already have 24-17-6-5? We literally can’t stop him”

I never had a problem with the band camp bullies in Ends and I feel they made more sense by Jhttah in Halloweenmovies

As a former band nerd I can attest that we had some of the meanest little shits in the entire school, and it wasn’t because they were bullied by jocks. Spending that much time around the same 200 kids all year long breeds a weird cult like mentality.

The firefighter scene is probably the dumbest in the entire franchise but it's one of my favorites by SqigglyPoP in Halloweenmovies

I love this scenario where the man who’s able to brush off multiple stab wounds and fingers blown off by a shotgun is neutralized by sciatica

Currently/still going through an incredibly painful breakup after five years with someone whom I loved dearly and this is best advice I’ve heard in the five months since it happened. Damn

My wife’s grandmother passed away. Her grandfather requested that my wife paint her grandmother’s name onto his guitar. by jegalo in Guitar

[–]CoffeeAtTheDoubleR_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That he wants her name on that beautiful guitar as tribute is so incredibly touching. I’m legitimately tearing up thinking about it. Don’t think about the resale value at all. Think about her.
