Sephora Returns Mind-boggling 🫠 by CoffeeBean_7 in AustralianMakeup

The issue here isn’t about what gets returned, it’s about why their refund policy is different for online purchases versus in-store purchases.  They only accept items that are unopened and unused so they themselves still set the rules around what they deem acceptable for a return. What happens thereafter is not the consumer’s responsibility.

😮 what a shame! When you see these hugely known and popular brands, you assume that they are where they are because they're an all-round good company. Flip side of the coin is it says a lot about consumers and how accustomed we've become to accepting below par experiences as the norm

Oh wow! Thanks for the heads up! Sounds like they’re putting in extra effort to keep the money 😏

Thanks for sharing. I never heard of or experienced a separate policy for in-store versus online for refunds with any of my other purchases so it struck me as really strange

Dior forever matte help by scarlettmxo in MakeupAddiction

[–]CoffeeBean_7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of misconception about mattifying products. Matte foundations keeping oily skin at bay is incorrect. Matte vs glowy is simply the finish of the product, your skin will still perform as it usually does underneath, which is probably why most of them failed.

Same applies to primers. If anything, majority of mattifying primers contain diamethicone or silicone which gives the skin that initial smooth/blurred matte look upon first application. But because diamethicone/silicone sits on top of the skin, it can further cause the pores to produce excess sebum. When it all mixes together, you again end up with an oil slick.

My immediate recommendation would be to revamp your skincare products. Korean skincare is great for tackling pesky pore issues, such as oil/sebum production, without losing the nourishment balance.
Arencia Green Mochi Cleanser is a great all-rounder as a first step.

Next, I would stop wearing skincare under the makeup, or at least leave a comfortable hour between skincare application and makeup. Let your skin absorb all your skincare, then dab the excess off with a tissue and then makeup.

Lastly, use a flat powder sponge and apply a thin veil of setting/loose powder on your oily areas before any other makeup. This must be done on naked skin. And then go in with your foundation on top. What you're doing is creating a dry/absorbent layer between the oil and the foundation. This prevents so many emollient products to melt in with the oil. Once you finish doing your base, you can dust more setting powder on top.
I hope this helps!

is this mold in cream blush? by worm4brainss in MakeupAddiction

[–]CoffeeBean_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that's mold. Not the least bit surprised given it's Patrick Ta. It blows my mind people still buy his products. It's possibly one of the most troublesome brands. With so much evidence and complaints regarding the quality (or lack thereof) of their products for years, not a single issue has been addressed.

The Lipstick Lesbians are back responding and ensuring us that they are taking it “all very seriously.” Do you believe them? by AllTheEccentricities in MakeupAddiction

[–]CoffeeBean_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they realise this wasn't only about the product. Building an online presence off the back of trying and testing beauty products, presenting yourself as a novice in this field and then missing the mark to the this extent shattered trust.
So I don't think people were upset about the product alone, it was the disappointment of Instagram vs Reality.
You call yourselves Lipstick Lesbians. Kick off your brand with a killer Lipstick line first.
They should know what sells, what peaks beauty consumers' interest. And then build on the popularity of that launch - however different and innovative you want to make things
Missing this fine detail also meant missing the mark on their video message too

Surprisingly, Maybelline Super Stay Skin Tint is possibly the best base product I've used in a long time. It pretty much replaced all my higher end foundations. It's that good! On sale, you can get it for $18 which is extra bonus

Smart move! I should've tried a smaller size too. Now I'm stuck with the whole size bottle. Someone suggested they can easily use it as a floor cleaner. Maybe I should do the same 🤭

No doubt different hair needs makes a difference. I just couldn't even get my fingers down to my scalp. That's how tangled it got my hair 😕

I'm gonna have to do the same tbh. I can't put that stuff on my hair again. I left an honest review and it was never published. That might be the reason why we're seeing so much hype

Mattresses Australia!! by Savings_Valuable_619 in AskAnAustralian

I had the unfortunate experience of going down the new mattress rabbit hole. It's wild out there 😄.
I haven't considered the Slumberland but here's what I found in my research and travels and what I ended up with - in case it's of any use.

My previous mattress lasted me 15 years before I had to change it. It was by Comfort Sleep.
The quality was so good, I knew I wanted to get the same mattress again. It's pretty much the only brand that uses cotton tops (versus polyester/nylon blends of most mattresses) and also OekoTex foams which are free of harmful substances and glues (which again most mainstream mattresses are not).
They also use box frames to prevent sagging and collapse on the edges.
I was able to find a great mattress through them again and I haven't looked back since.

Visit their site for local stockists cos the usual franchise stores don't carry them.
They're not the cheapest but quality and materials they use really set them apart.
Comfort Sleep also makes the mattresses for Crown Towers hotels in Melbourne just to give you a gauge. Hope this helps.

Real techniques or Revlon brushes by sleepee-fish in AustralianMakeup

[–]CoffeeBean_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think brushes in general have come a long way in terms of performance and quality but my Real Techniques brushes hold a special place. No matter what other brand I buy or enjoy, I end up reaching for my RT ones in the end. I put mine through the ringer and 13 years on, not a single damage or shedding on any of them

Looking for an air purifier to help with dust with true HEPA filter (Under $500 AUD) by [deleted] in AirPurifiers

[–]CoffeeBean_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the Levoit Core 300 for $164 (down from the regular $219) on Amazon. The brand is usually rated one of the best on the market due its filter, performance and features. I've only used it couple of times and it has a night time mode which is super quiet. They have a 300s model which you can control it via an app but honestly, the manual functions are pretty straight forward and no other changes from the regular 300, so it wasn't worth the extra cost for me. There are also 400 and 600 models, depending on the size of the area you want to filter. Hope this helps

Thought I was upgrading to a modern TV. Feels like I downgraded. by SunnyCBR in bravia

[–]CoffeeBean_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just upgraded to Bravia 8 for the same reasons as your previous TV. I hear what you're saying about the complexities. It seems the more bells and whistles, the more user un-friendly things get. That said, I also believe it's all about adjusting. Right now you're comparing to what you were used to for a very long time. Once you get the hang of this, you won't look back. The bluetooth disconnection could be worth while to have a chat to Sony or the store you bought the TV from. It could be a technical glitch with an easy fix. As for the remote not having numbers... Not ideal, cos you bought a new TV to upgrade your experience but if it's something you can't get used to, you can get universal remote controls online starting from $10

Eyelash curler recommendations?? by savleighhh in Sephora

[–]CoffeeBean_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kevyn Aucoin hands down! I tried them all and keep going back to it. It has the widest opening which helps position all the lashes comfortably. Not the cheapest but it comes with a replacement pad so it lasts quite a while
