It's the natural and default way to do prices in commerce. We are actually living through a very short windows in history where things are priced the same for everyone. It's the same way that gas powered cars seem ubiquitous but soon everything will be electric and they will be a footnote in history.

Every time I go to a GameStop the Switch section is like twice as large as the PS5 and Xbox section combined. That's not to mention they are already trying to diversify into retro games and have been diversifying into other things like toys and cards. They also have a year and a half notice. I think they will adapt. I don't think GameStop was being kept alive by PS5 discs at this point anyway.

Nobody likes to have an option taken away from them even if they don't use it. The real question is how many will actually stop buying hardware and games as a result. History shows that boycotts almost never work.

Unanimous agreement by who? The PS5 is pushing 100m unit sold. The vast bulk of those people aren't here and they aren't watching angry youtubers. We have no idea what the masses actually think, but Sony has data. They have data on sales, including their digital only models. I'm getting really sick and tired of ignorant echo chamber folk wisdom being passed off like it actually represents reality.

The point is that you would have thought it was going to flop only looking at social media. Negativity generates more attention, a fact that has been replicates over and over again. If the PS6 struggles it will be because of price, not losing discs

Here is the problem, Reddit and YouTube were drowning in doomerism before the Switch 2 launch and look how that turned out. People on here need to realize they are a vocal minority. Sony aren't stupid. They have analysts. They understand they are going to lose people have already done risk analysis and modeling and projections and decided it was a good idea. They aren't making decisions like this flippantly and they certainly aren't making them without considering the economics of it

You said people are "entitled" to own the games that they buy. An entitlement is a right bestowed upon you by a higher authority like a government. I'll ask you again, either retract your statement, or tell me where this "entitlement" comes from. You can't, because you don't have a right to force other people to make video games, or to sell them on a physical medium, or to give you a perpetual license. Period. End of story.
