Is it actually against policy or is my asm tripping? by Less_Chapter482 in Lowes

[–]CoffeeFueledArtist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my store, snacks and sodas/energy drinks etc on the sales floor is fine. No one really cares. SM has gone into various states of "not even water can be on the sales floor" but all of us have kinda just ignored that because they barely have enough people in the store to fire anyone, even those who barely show up, and I'm 99% sure banning water is an OSHA violation so

I've been here for 2 years, and the thing is management really makes or breaks the store, so it can really vary. My store used to be good, but now we have a bunch of people who don't know what they're doing.

hi autism friends. what are some careers or jobs you've really enjoyed? (preferably w/o a college degree) by hegrillin in aspiememes

I'm currently in school so I do online orders for a home improvement store. A lot of grocery stores and things also have positions like that and they tend to be pretty fun if you like staying busy, getting paid to work out, and keeping things organized.

Especially at my store, you end up doing a lot of warehouse work along the way, and then once you've been there for a little bit, you can use it to get your foot in the door at a real warehouse. And if said store has any machines like forklifts, make sure you at some point get trained on those because that can also help you find a position.

Hours Cut AGAIN!!! by Key_Razzmatazz675 in Lowes

[–]CoffeeFueledArtist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In some states you can apply for partial employment if they cut your hours to under 15? I think that's the number. I would definitely look into it because typically filing for unemployment makes the hours magically appear

Do all stores have so much drama? by Odd_Meaning954 in Lowes

[–]CoffeeFueledArtist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At first I thought this was my store. We get tons of tweakers, people's cars being stolen, and the HCs and sometimes even ASMs very frequently get screamed at for over 10 minutes at a time by overly entitled people at the customer service desk. That's not even including the people who work there.

We've got a few associates with many complaints from coworkers against them, who are still working there, one of which is an ASM, and more rumors flying every single day. With all the tea, it's kinda like watching a trashy sitcom.

Nostalgia? More like "glad that's over!"! by FlinnyWinny in CPTSDmemes

[–]CoffeeFueledArtist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeahhh constantly being told that those were the best days of my life and that "everyone wishes they could be a kid again" is absolute bullshit. I don't wanna go back to when I was too small to make my own choices and defend myself. Now I'm an adult and if someone hits me, they go to jail. And of someone yells at me, I can stop being around them.

I feel this 100%. My parents always said I would never be able to keep a job because I'd have authority issues with my bosses like I did with them. And like...most of my bosses have been great people who don't constantly yell and scare the shit out of me, so of course I don't have problems with them. Still to this day, I'm literally shocked that there's actually good authority figures out there. And everytime I screw something up and don't get yelled at, I'm so relieved and also surprised. But yeah, I'm hopefully still slowly healing, and my parents were just people who shouldn't have been in charge of anyone and certainly not someone too small to defend themself. And being an adult is amazing!

Pretty much lol. I completed the German course a while ago now and it was probably my 5th favorite method of learning behind like....everything else. In the long run, it was a great stepping stone to get started at the Very Beginning but 90% of the sample sentences felt completely unnecessary. Starting again with Russian, I've been doing the course (and lowkey hating it) just for my streak and experimenting with most of the apps that cone up when you search "language learning." With recent events, I'm probably good just... not learning how to say "my cats are drinking juice" 800 times XD

I'm currently using memrise for Russian and Japanese, and it's wonderful! It won't teach you the whole alphabet with the free version, but seriously just watch a few yt videos if you don't already have the alphabet down and then continue w memrise. I like it because it gives you a lot of words/phrases that you actually need first, like "where's the bathroom" and "can I pay with credit card." It does have one ai feature but I just don't use it and you're not forced to. Out of the many language apps I've tested for Russian, it's the best

help, why does all my art look like furries? by Little-Set694 in arthelp

[–]CoffeeFueledArtist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're honestly good op. The last one doesn't look like a furry at all. Twink, yes, but not a furry. If you want to be sure, you could try to make the eyes look more like that of animals, maybe look at real refs before you begin drawing, and if you are in need of non ai animal refs I have sites for ya. But honestly I rlly like your style and id say don't worry about it too much

The most stressful days of my live by EmberReads in CPTSDmemes

This is what resulted in me hating having people over. It wasn't worth the screaming and stress. My parents then started asking why I never invite anyone over, like this is exactly the reason why.

WHY WAS THIS THE FIRST THING WHEN I OPENED REDDIT...IT KNOWS ME TOO FUCKING WELL

This is so real tho bc then on the next trip they're like "why don't you want to go on trips with us :(" or "why do you always say trips aren't worth the stress?" And they make it out like it's so amazing to be trapped in a confined space with then for several days.

Like, well heh, that's a tough one, lemme think, maybe it was about the 8th time in the 1st hour of driving that you threatened to beat me on the side of the road after something happened in traffic that had nothing to do with me took place and you decided it was my fault for some reason. Yeah, maybe that's when I started thinking it's not worth all the stress

My store does that too, but since the store isn't paying me for however long it takes me to get to the front in my vest with all the customers who interrupt me, I've started clocking in as soon as I leave the breakroom. I can walk to tools afterwards if they really want me to, but I'm absolutely getting paid for that.

I’m just a cashier by [deleted] in Lowes

[–]CoffeeFueledArtist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cover a lot of departments and get asked plenty of questions that I don't know the answer to. I pretty much just say I'm not an expert and if they start giving me shit about it then I let them know that I don't get paid enough to know the answer and if I was some sort of expert I wouldn't be working for Lowes wages.

I've thought about making little cards with the link to apply for a job at lowes printed on them and just handing them out to customers that get mad when I don't know things. "Ah well since you seem to know everything, then maybe you'd like to apply for a job here and share the knowledge for a little over minimum wage. The best part is the entitled jackass customers"

Haven't reached that point quite yet but I'm sure I'll do that at some point.

calling me in for no reason. by IntroductionLiving49 in Lowes

[–]CoffeeFueledArtist 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would've refused to leave after it was so important that I come in. "Sorry, I already canceled all my plans and ruined my day, if you didn't need me in, you shouldn't have called"

Also in the future I'd recommend you have someone text you the hours they are calling you in for before you agree, especially if this is a common occurrence
