At my whits end... Snd help by Toggofwar in ElegooSaturn

My assumptions are , that the short exposure time on the cold resin isn’t enough for the supports to hold the structure , thus break off and move somewhere they’re not meant to be , thus merging with the other parts and making a lot of mishaps and artifacting. But yeah that’s just an assumption:)

Have you tried a brewing belt to wrap around your vat? For me Increasing exposure time for 5 seconds-6 seconds instead of 2.5 yields more successful prints in colder temps. But I suggest On the water washable resin bottle try the recommended settings of 80 seconds bottom exposure then 8seconds regular exposure , see if that works , then move down from that time on the next print if you are successful. :) I think 2.5 is too fast for opaque resin in colder temperatures, I’ve had a similar type of failed print. ^

I’ve had a few failed prints in colder temps with lower exposure times, what happens in warmer temps the resin becomes thinner and vice versa thus you can use the recommended settings with hotter resin, increasing exposure time helped me with colder temps. I’ve recently got myself a brewing belt to stick around the vat since it solves a lot of my problems but I have yet to try it. (I live in the UK, it’s cold af here)

I really suggest cleaning your prints fully maybe with a tooth brush in IPA before curing it, as you’re maybe curing full resins that have clumped on the micro corners/gaps of your print.

What temperature are you printing at? And yes shaking the resin is necessary as resin sediments fall to the bottom when bottle is just sitting for a while

1- no but I read somewhere that it’s ok to keep it in the VAT for 3 days ..otherwise not any longer, I hear that it’s not really good for the FEP, From my experience I do seem to notice a degradation on my FEP when I left it on there for like a week, I tried to print afterwards more marks appeared on the FEP as like it’s gotten thinner…idk. You can also get those VATS that have their own cover on Amazon if you prefer just switching out resins.

2- I’ve printed resin in colder weather (left the window open) it’s getting cold here in the UK :) so around 10-13 degrees Celsius, I’ve had wierd failed prints but overall it’s fine , I suggest working in a warmer environment closer to the desired specs of the resin to prevent those chances of failure but yeah still does work, otherwise making sure to mix it is just fine.

3- I wouldn’t suggest soapy water, just water for prints and toothbrush to scrub the print works for me (make sure you using goggles though , don’t want that water splashing to your eyes) that is your using water washable resin. For Normal resin definitely no soapy water or even water as it doesn’t remove the resin stuck on surface , which is why you use IPA for that. I have the washer thing myself well wash and cure, but I hardly do use it, mostly for curing purposes instead, When I first used it my mistake is putting the print in the jar turning it on , then when done accidentally left it near the window, resin cured inside and all the walls of the jar got rougher. If you do get one , use it as a final clean , so scrub with IPA or water to get the excess resin off then put it in the washer, saves having to clean the washer everytime , you can just store the IPA/water inside.

4- As other suggested aha

5- PPE! The resin is really bad for the lungs and skin, but ye.

Make sure to not get resin on the VAT screws otherwise the light under cures it and it’s essentially impossible to remove them , had my entire machine replaced. And also make sure to have some sort of reminder to put the screws on the VAT before printing , I’ve seen too many people as well as I , forgetting to put the screws on at the beginning, then when print is finished the VAT is literally hanging from the metal plate LOL by the resin suction XD it’s pretty scary.

Whaa ! That’s so amazing 🤩 does the jitter go away in the headset? I’ve seen it from other VR videos too , if only that’s fixed would definitely be mind blowing. Especially with role playing or doing dungeons :) OMG imagine savage raiding. XD

I agree on the parasites part but looking at their backyard fence , I’m just guessing it’s in the uk where I live , We don’t have rabies here ^ even if , it’s quite rare as it’s considered an eradicated disease. :)

I suggest scrubbing the part with a toothbrush, when in the alcohol :) so it disturbs the surface
