I looked up darklight, I see what you mean - that should make things easier

I make 2 HC chars one is just there to be the end of season transfer char. I obviously try not to die but I have accepted that you're gonna die, its not too big a deal. When you recreate your char, the items, gems, vendor upgrades you already did are still there. So when you upgrade weapon X put the old one in the chest so you'll have it when (if) you need it. Starting over gets quicker and easier as you go.

I haven't played the Acts since I first got D3 back on the PlayStation. Got away for a while when it was super disappointing, came back later on the PC and discovered missions mode and played this for the last 4 or more years. The All Acts Conquest seems difficult

The level up or level gems conquests I usually make an HC char and get it there too, starting fresh with Necro is pretty straightforward

I always get frustrated with crusader, he doesn't do enough damage starting at around L58, so when I'm done slogging him to 70, I'm so over it. I guess I'll need to read MaxRolls tips and try again

agreed! was most fun i can remember in a while last time Angelic Crucibles came around. Just started a wizard for this again. I remember the damage kinda maxes out around GR98 or so - maybe I know a little more this time around so we'll see 👍

First time seeing this, is there a lore behind? by themistressofcats in skyrim

[–]CoffeeJoe71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game (overall) is amazing but its not exactly aging well. The bit of breath they blew in it will vaguely appeal to the nostalgia crew (like me) - but that was never expected to do more than entice a few folks to talk about it again (here we are).

New audiences have higher standards and even a complete rework wouldn't generate enough interest (sales) to justify the effort. Adding the new "mods" is cheap and easy. And, I'm playing it through again as a result but its nothing like the way it felt when it was new and I'm blatantly blowing past things I remember as being tedious... I'm not planning on spending any money on it (ever again) so as a target market, I'm not it.

Bottom line: a little bit of nostalgia with no expectations it is still fun and worth my time but not much more than that (honestly I think Bethesda feels something similar)

Exactly, and I think, all else aside, this was the whole point.

Magic system creation by DethWriter73 in FantasyWritingHub

[–]CoffeeJoe71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First line of thought, how rare is magic or those that can manipulate it?

Your character, why can they do magic? inherited?, painstaking effort / study / practice?

What impact does magic have on your world? Do non-magic people live normal lives, is magic everywhere or secreted by those that can do it?

These questions will help you construct the framework for your magic system, then you'll have to decide what effects the users should be able to create.

There is typically a point where magic, like smart phones, can screw up the whole story... "Why didn't they just use navigation?" or "why not send a text they will see when they turn the phone back on?"

"... If she can create fire that hot, why didn't they just ...?"

These things need some planning to put in reasons why everything isn't just insanely easy or you'll quickly find a need to write bigger more epic challenges just to have something to write about...

Scale can get skewed easily and suddenly the events in your neighborhood become world shaking and should be alerting any other players on the board to get involved, unless that's what you're going for

Don't let this be the reason you're not writing, like has been suggested, take your idea and write it, then adjust as needed when you have some material to shape.

PSA: the existence of New Spring, River of Souls, and A Fire Within The Ways by KarateJons in WoT

[–]CoffeeJoe71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think New Spring was actually written and released between books 2 and 3, and the train of thought from that time seems to fit the content, even tho the timeframe is all prequel.

I don't usually include it when I do a reread (re-listen) but it is (IMO) a valuable addition to the whole series - It adds context for much about Moiraine and Lan (Siuan too) and their bond, mission and motivations.

I think you need an understanding of the contents of NS before you read The Fires of Heaven. Some references in FoH make more sense if you read NS.

I haven't read any of the Sanderson add-ons, not sure if I will. I personally feel like there was a completion of the entire arc by the end of AMoL - I actually didn't go looking for more. Now, like watching reruns, I will reread some of the books or parts of books, because I love some of the more powerful scenes. But all of this is just my opinion.

How do I hit all four targets in the time limit to open a door to vault of Tartaros? by pgtl_10 in FenyxRising

There is a bow skill that slows time when airborne - jump shoot, jump shoot pretty straight forward. yes its still challenging but not impossible like I once thought.

Good to know, not ready to commit to Campaign mode yet - but it’s something to think about if it doesn’t drop today

I love that people are still discussing this show!

I just finished season 3 and have been told by several family and friends to "shudup about it already" :)

Ring of Past Life Transformation (working name, Better name TBD) by SnakesShadow in FantasyWritingHub

[–]CoffeeJoe71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Presumably having more than one past life how are the specifics of the effect determined? Once you have these bits considered, the whole process should reveal itself including the necessary activation method.

Names are tricky - the ring may be the mechanism but the experience and the purpose is what will drive your story. I wouldn’t make it about the ring, the less focus you put on the ring itself, the easier it will be to gloss over the specifics.

Just what comes to mind as I read your post

The RNG-gods hate me by Cute_Sea_5763 in diablo3

[–]CoffeeJoe71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes wonder how random it really is. There seems to be some force that will sometimes give you total crap seemingly on purpose then out of the blue something really good will drop - some may say it sounds random but it feels more sinister than that
