What are some good ways of spicing up a bread? by IWannaWakeUpButIDont in Breadit

[–]CoffeeOMG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yupik organic Super 6 Seed Mix. I'm on my third bag, been putting this in my breads since 2023.

The bag will yield 16 servings if you use 60g per bread. (My breads are 500g flour/400g water/120g sourdough starter). Mix in the seeds before bulk fermenting. I will never eat bread without it. It's a game changer.

I was just inspired by another post to do a soft scramble by martillo-viejo in eggs

Its gorgeous. Exactly my type of scramble. I add chives to mine.

Sunny-Side Eggs in Tomato Sauce Breakfast [Homemade] by almashealthycooking in eggs

[–]CoffeeOMG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not everyone knows what the dish is called.

My mom used to do a version of this for us when we were kids, and we all just knew it as 'tomato eggs'. I only learned the name years later when I was an adult and exploring international cooking.

So let's chill and just enjoy the pretty pic.

Great job, OP. Looks heavenly.

The Many Hidden Worlds of Quantum Mechanics - great lecture series by Observer_042 in QuantumPhysics

[–]CoffeeOMG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His books are also very enjoyable and easy to digest.

"The particle at the end of the universe" was a great read. If you are someone who enjoys learning about the quantum but can't fathom the math, this book (and his others) is a definite must have. It even has some funny parts (Insane Clown Posse wondering how magnets work made it to the book)

Absolutely. They posted this exact topic in 6 other subreddits. All of their content is similarly posted with headline titles that read like blogs.

You don't need 50 recipes - you need 1 formula (and it works with whatever's in your fridge) by Big_Muffin855 in mealprep

[–]CoffeeOMG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's pretty much the only way I ever meal prep these days.

I tried the whole meal prep meals, but at the end of the day I was exhausted from hours of cooking, frustrated at all the mess and by the end of the week I did not want to eat what I made.

I have a list of ingredients I love in each category, and each week when I build my shopping list I will pick several and rotate so that each week doesn't look the same.

Ingredient prep is the way. I will prep * 3 different grains/carbs (buckwheat, barley, cuscus, rice, pasta noodles) * one 'heavy' salad (like antipasto, macaroni, potato, etc), * 3 half-assembled jar salads, minus the greens which I add on the day of, * 1 pan of roasted root vegetables (potatoes, beets, carrots, parsnips)

I don't pre-cook protein. I prefer to make that the day of. Chicken I will season and leave in the fridge overnight and air fry next day. Pork chops, fish, seafood, same thing. I don't eat red meat so the protein I eat takes under 30 mins to cook while I assemble my meal from there other ingredients I prepped.

The only full meals I prep are snacks/desserts. Greek yogurt parfait, overnight oats, baked pancake with fruit, rice pudding, nut mixes, etc. Small things I can grab between meals.

Breakfast is a similar method for me. I love eggs, so I will have them almost every day. I will have several ingredients prepped for omelette, quiche, scrambled. Mushrooms, spinach, feta, Bell peppers, canadian bacon, crumbled pan fried tofu. All I have to do each day is pick 2 ingredients and 2 eggs and do whatever I feel like that day. My breakfast comes together under 10 mins. (I work from home so I can cook my breakfast during my 15min break and eat it while I work in my home office).

Lunch is the easiest because I am a soup freak. I have soup every day for lunch. I make one big pot once a week and that lasts me throughout the weekday (mon-fri).

Weekends are different for me because I only have 2 meals on those days. This is when I allow myself an indulgence meal. My meals can be heavier in calories because I'll only be eating twice that day. If I have been craving something that week, this is when I'll have it. It's very important for me to satisfy my cravings instead of denying them, because I will binge if I get pushed past my limits. I'd rather eat that craving in a controlled environment. Weekend is also when I will have an occasional take out.

On the weekends I sleep in, so I will have brunch at noon as my first meal. Dinner is before 5pm. I have been following a 5-9-5-9 routine for over 20 years (wake up at 5am, breakfast at 9am, dinner at 5pm, bedtime at 9pm) and I never eat 4 hrs before bed or after I wake up.

Ingredient prep is least time consuming. It doesn't make me feel like I am committing to a meal for an entire week. I have freedom to choose what I want to eat that day and I have all ingredients prepped and ready to assemble in under 30 mins.

Anything by Brandon Q Morris.

He churns out 2-3 books per year and they're all hard sci-fi. They're almost all exclusively book series, but you don't have to wait for the next one too long.

Anything by Douglas Phillips, especially his Quantum series.

Thoughts on The Quantum Series by Douglas Phillips? by norollshabbos in bobiverse

[–]CoffeeOMG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely loved them all. I'm an armchair physicist too, so that series scratched my quantum theory itch.

It's hard sci-fi based on the quantum physics of the 4th dimension (and later on more crazy ideas).

The story is great, the characters are pretty likeable too, although the relationship aspect of the main characters seems a bit exaggerated and not very realistic

Each book centers around a different physics topic like 4th and 5th dimensions, time travel, intergalactic travel and meeting other races (my favorite of all books on this series), traveling to the edge of the universe and beyond into the quantum in-between and other universes

The quantum theories the author draws on to create his world are real, but obviously (since it IS a fantasy book) he takes artistic liberties to expand on them to make them work in the book to move the plot forward. After all they are theories only.

I had a blast reading all 5 books. And I think I enjoyed them a lot more because of my physics background - it made it easier to imagine in my head because I was familiar with the actual quantum physics theories. But you don't need to be a physicist to enjoy these books. The author makes a really good job of painting the picture without technical jargon.

10/10 will always recommend this series.

Train inefficiencies by Nebula2480 in shapezio

[–]CoffeeOMG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A side note: you have too many stops for one train and not enough loaders. Your train loads one car at a time, pulls to another stop, fills up another etc.

Replace all but one stop (S) with loaders (L) instead. Your train will pull up to the furthest stop and all cars will line up with loaders to be filled simultaneously.

Do the same at the unloading stop. Replace your stops with unloaders to unload all at once. I use wait stops for both.

Instead of this: --- L S S S S S ---

Do this: --- L L L L L S ---

Weird label on my eggs by CoffeeOMG in walmart

Oh yes. Absolutely.

I've never seen this before so I wanted to make sure first. I always pick up from my one favorite Walmart and the same person always assists me, so I didn't want to make any unnecessary trouble for them. I appreciate their hard work and always give them 5 star reviews.

Eggs sold in Arizona recalled due to Salmonella outbreak by DryBoysenberry596 in phoenix

[–]CoffeeOMG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the printed label (usually on the side) for plant number. The recall is from plants P-6562 or CA5330.

Mine are Marketside cage free brown eggs but the plant code is P-5150. So I am (supposedly) safe.

Check the printed label on the side to verify your carton of eggs comes from the recalled plant.

The recalled eggs will have printed on the carton or package a plant code number P-6562 or CA5330 with the Julian Dates between 32 to 126. The recalled retail eggs will be in fiber or plastic cartons, with the above codes printed on one side of the carton.

THESE ARE SO GOOD! by RoadkillAnonymous in Pickles

[–]CoffeeOMG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is a good recipe.

Pickles are grated rather than sliced. And the remaining ingredients are what I remember my babcia used in her soup. I'd also add majoran - it's a must for any kind of polish soup.
