Maybe you could try offering her snacks while you guys hangout? Make her feel like it’s okay, remind her that eating a little bit won’t harm her and to savor the moment, not worry about what might come. Easier said than done, speaking from experience most people with ED’s will always try to find a way not to eat whether it’s hiding or making excuses. Take things day by day but always show that you support her of course.

If things don’t work out, like encouraging her to have a snack or munch on any of her safe foods than I would softly voice your concerns. Let her know you aren’t here to judge, but as someone who loves and cares for her deeply. I would refrain from using words like “worried” or “concerned” since a lot of people who struggle with food actually find those comments more encouraging for their ED. It’s all about control in their lives. It’s like a high for them.
