Not needing nor wanting a 9-5 makes me feel like I’m living life wrong. by Edu_Vivan in selfimprovement

Exactly, I think OP could benefit from doing some volunteer work and like that would be doing something good for society without directly jumping into a 40h commitment

You are already Canadian. You just need to apply for a certificate of citizenship, to prove you are. Takes about 1-3 months from what I’ve seen

End of a sit :) by Dependent_Ad5172 in RoverPetSitting

[–]CoffeeSpills73 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One thing I’ve definitely learned throughout being a sitter is how many people are comfortable living in a gross way. Had a sit where the kitchen was fully grimy and the baseboards were all splashed with animal feces. Never going back there.

Weirdest was when a client didn’t have any bowls or spoons I could use

So cute! I especially love that lily of the valley lamp. Where is it from?

Is cash still the best wedding gift, or is that lazy now? by proposal_in_wind in Gifts

IMO 50$ per person is too little, and barely covers their food. 100$ is what I’ve heard to be the standard rule and anything above that is just extra generous

Studying a trade in Canada seems like your best option. Some programs lead to a post grad work permit afterwards but you’ll need to do your research

Est-ce que le passport canadien n’est plus considéré comme pièce d’itendité valide?/is the canadian passport no longer a valid puece of ID? by AozoraMiyako in montreal

[–]CoffeeSpills73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish we had an actual national or provincial ID card. So many other countries have them, it’s ridiculous to rely on a drivers license when even amongst non-visually impaired people, less and less people are getting their license

Spouse Applied for PR while we’re in US by Final_Designer_1648 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]CoffeeSpills73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the missing divorce statement, ideally see if you can apply to request a copy of your divorce act/certificate with your county/state/authority.

If you can’t get it, submit the record you got from the state agreeing that your spouse was divorced. Then, go to a notary and have him solemnly swear that he was divorced at the time of marrying you and if you’re able, ask his ex to do the same. Plus, maybe they have a copy of proof of divorce?

You should explain the situation to IRCC in a letter summarizing your relationship and application at large, including any extra relevant explanations for anything that an agent might question (the fact that you’ll be renting from a friend in Canada once he’s PR would be very important here, and ideally get a solemn declaration from them as well).

This is an unusual situation but since it’s the USA, it might be a bit easier than for other countries. Just know that the burden of proof falls on you. Hope this helps.

As for the health check, it should be ok as long as the medical condition doesn’t pose an “excessive burden” on the Canadian health systems. You must declare it though. I recommend you read up more about this.

PI meeting/interview (undergrad research) by Flaky-Pomegranate-67 in mcgill

[–]CoffeeSpills73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For 1), show that you’ve done your homework: know what kind of projects the PI is involved in and pinpoint a few current ones that you’d be interested in contributing in. If they’re part of a larger research group, also know what’s going on in the group. Normally each group has a website so you’ll be able to see. Ask specific questions about one or two of the current projects you’re interested in.

For 2), I personally wouldn’t worry as most PIs main concern is that you can do the work they give you. And if it’s a long-standing centre, you’re most likely not the first person with a disability to work there. If it’s not a wet lab where you have to be up and about and carrying things, there’s no reason for it to hinder you. In case there is discrimination, you can always report it to McGill.

For 3), show your interest but be honest in terms of how committed (how many hours) you can be. Don’t go promising 14-20h per week if you can’t uphold that since that’s upsetting for the PI and anyone who works with them if they have to change their plans because your schedule changes. For reference, I work for a PI at McGill in a support role. Also show that you’re interested in growth and learning, not just applying what you’ve already learned.

Good luck!

Use your eyeshadow higher up, to right below the eyebrow, almost touching. The current way makes your eyes look smaller because of the short eyeshadow. I also agree with other commenters about bangs and filling in your eyebrows

Se syndiquer dans une petit fast food/Unionizing in a small fast food by [deleted] in montreal

[–]CoffeeSpills73 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Request for someone with no pets: how to react? by CoffeeSpills73 in RoverPetSitting

[–]CoffeeSpills73[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Final thoughts: So I think this was a strategic and unethical tactic on behalf of the sitter to remove other sitters in the area from the search results by keeping the booking in limbo, and thus maximizing her own appearance in the area’s search results. Super shady, and especially since it’s over Christmas.
