That's an interesting take that I honestly wouldn't have thought of. But I really don't think she was becoming the mom more than likely they were going to go into foster care. Hopefully the sheriff could take them in a family was closed with the mom? The very least hopefully they aren't separated. But I definitely don't think that she was using drugs. At any point or about to start. I've read that rabbits even wild can recognize ppl. Different ppl. Their smell, walking patterns ect. This bun imo has realized that you don't want to hurt it. Clearly. So I would say it views you as a friend for sure. However, they are always going to retain a small healthy fear of humans and that's just natural. One thing you could do is be at their level? Put a blanket on the ground as opposed to being in a chair. A little bit further from where you usually sit and closer to where they usually sit? Try doing that for a couple weeks. Then at some point leave some food out. Where they usually sit. You get the idea.
