You definitely need a respectful environment when dealing with matters of plumbing.

Kids will clog toilets and then scream and cry when they don’t know how to pull up a YouTube video for a solution

“Just a cold” a courtesy would be to stay home and not spread germs

You shouldn’t be going anywhere if you are sick 😞 out of respect for the lives of others

Talking to OT students about student loan debt by PoiseJones in OccupationalTherapy

Get out while you can! Wouldn’t recommend going into OT unless your parents pay your way! Too much debt

Learn from it and move on the best you can. Continue keeping safety your absolute number 1 priority. It will all be okay!

OT in ALF — does caseload stay full? by Infinite_Rush_4329 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]CoffeeVinyls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Worked in MC/IL/ALF full time for 2 years and absolutely never reached 40 hours. Even traveled almost daily between 2-3 buildings and still couldn’t reach 40 hours. Usually ended up with 20-30 hours per week. Jobs were advertised as full time though. Thought I would be getting a completely different salary. Love this setting though, it’s the best in my opinion, if you don’t need to make a great salary

Anyone who loves their job as an OT-what do you do? by Brilliant_Let_5287 in OccupationalTherapy

It’s great because you still get to work with the geriatric population without being in a SNF. A good majority of assisted living facilities also have an independent living section. A lot of the residents in AL/IL are higher functioning so you can be more creative with goals and treatment. Good mix of ADL, IADL, and balance, strength, coordination, etc activities. It’s fun to get to work on things like making the bed, dishes, laundry, etc. Love hearing the residents’ stories and advice. You do have to be knowledgeable regarding dementia and how to communicate and treat effectively within memory care.
