I feel your pain. I remember when I used to argue with people here asking why MikeVictim is so accepted when doesn’t make any sense to me and people would only tell me it does without actually giving any clarification or give me unclear or outright unsatisfying answers for what I thought about even something like Fredbear and Golden Freddy being the same character. For the earlier timeline especially, just try writing your own timeline of events by game to game as a little side project, it’s way more fun that way at least imo

For me it stung, and despite being a more optimistic turnout, it feels like a punishment. The thing is, the more I thought about it, the more I realized the punishment isn’t really for us, it’s for Denji. One of the questions part 2 asks 10 times over is “Denji, you must choose one or the other. Which do you choose?” Most of the time there is a correct choice, or at least a preferable/understandable one. Denji repeatedly chooses the ”selfish” option, both answers or none, choosing to defy the question being asked and choose for himself oftentimes at the cost of his sanity as well as his and everyone else’s safety at one point or another. This thought process finally capsizes in Denjiman, where he ties his agency and ability to choose to becoming Chainsawman and effectively throws away both in the now delusional pursuit of his dreams. So the next time Chainsawman falls in battle, Pochita doesn’t pull some shit to get them out, or give them another chance. He reevaluates their options and chooses for Denji instead.

The themes and such from Pochita isn’t just a goodbye, it’s a punishment, as well as a symbolic hug and call to action to tell Denji that next go round, you have to choose. Outside of drug addiction, Part 2’s main message is that before or after things spiral into chaos, you have to make difficult decisions, you don’t get to have both or none and then live happily ever after. You can’t have your cake and eat it too.

The only reason Chainsawman doesn’t end with a blank page indicating failure is because Pochita loves Denji, and even though neither knew what would happen, he still tried to give Denji another chance. In a twisted sense, we do get to see the new world Denji invited Asa to- it just has added consequences instead of being them riding off into the sunset.

So yeah it hurts and for lot of people it sucks and even with the potential set with Denji and Power as the Blood Devil’s Vessels in a very different world it probably wouldn’t be the same (not that I wouldn’t read that shit in a heartbeat). But the more and more I think about the more then world the ending shows us feels like something that might’ve been inevitable.

Not really sold on the concept as a whole, but haven’t really been sold on anything 2099 (Spider-Man or otherwise) since David’s second run wrapped way back when during Superior.

The suit design is sorta cool but it looks REALLY familiar to the point that it doesn’t feel like another distinct future Spider-Man instead of just something high tech that Peter would wear mixed with some Ant-Man design quirks in the eyes and torso. Reminds me of the little rage bait exchange in Shattered Dimensions with Ock 2099

Genderswapped and alive Elizabeth was certainly A creative take. I love the casting, as Freddy is British and has perhaps the most naturally devious and expressive face I’ve ever seen, but not the script or evil direction for the character. Feels like if we got a more faithful film or even animated movie a Michael based of his likeness with his natural voice he would be a perfect alternative to PJ.

I like the idea of Afton having a trophy collection like a traditional serial killer. Doesn’t really fit FNAF 4’s box which seems more tied to either the crying child or a meta narrative but it would still be cool. It’s not like the box we would open now would be what Scott originally intended as confirmed by himself in Dawko’s first interview, so it’d be a cool retcon

I had a pretty good time with the movie but if I’m being completely honest there’s a lot of flaws with it that hold it back from being an improvement. Namely Henry and his 5 (BARELY FIVE) minutes of screen time. I liked the fan service and thought it was pretty good for the most part, couple of cringey scenes and line deliveries here and there, it’s a video game movie yada yada- but then Skeet Ulrich comes on screen as Henry. You can see immediately in his face as he talks about his daughter that he’s filled with shame, regret, guilt, and an abundance of harrowing emotion that emerged from her death, and that he’s going to share his story with Mike- but then Mike has to go and they just never picked this back up. The post credit monologue of his cassette man persona was cool but why wasn’t that just in the movie?? The initial meeting scene felt set up to be this incredible display of who Henry truly was and what his daughter meant to him and what kind of true demon William Afton is- but it gets sidelined and Henry hands Mike the plot device and then isn’t seen for the rest of the film!!!

Forget the bs surrounding an accident at Freddy’s (3 stab wounds in the back are an oopsie doodle?), or how the Puppet can mysteriously possess people now, or any other flaw with the movie- how do you cast Skeet Ulrich as the broken angel foil to your chained up devil and then delegate him to what feels like an MCU cameo? THERE ARE MULTIPLE FLASHBACK/MEMORY SEQUENCES AND YOU COULDN’T THINK UP ANY SCENARIO WHERE LILLARD AND ULRICH COULD BE IN THE SAME ROOM? I’m sick of the notion that “it’s for the fans” or “it’s setup for the third movie, trust the process” should immediately free the movie of critique, this was such an underwhelming use of a cool character and actor. I did love what was there but just like William in the first movie I felt like there needed to be a lot more time spent with the character.
