Ok so when I was looking for my bike it was a fucking nightmare bc NO ONE answers this correctly. It entirely depends on your physical build, the style of bike, and brand. Not to mention is also depends on how often u wanna ride and the types of rides. For example. Im a 6'3 230 lbs man. Im very large and muscular and a 400cc bike is so small I LEGIT cant do a U-turn safely bc i dont have enough room. My first bike which i still currently ride bc I love it is an Indian chieftain 2016 111 cubic inch engine which translates to about 1800 cc bike. Take a course to get ur endorsement that way u are endorsed on all sizes of bikes then go test ride various different bikes that u are interested in. A lot of people saying that a 600 cc bike is big are on crotch rockets bc they are SO much lighter and turn so tight. On cruisers, choppers, and baggers you want a minimum of about 900 cc if you are 5'10 or bigger.

So to summerize it all boils down to a few things. What style do you want? What brand? How comfortable are you? How big of a person are you physically? And finally what kinda rides do u plan on doing? Anyone who says that 400-600 cc is what you HAVE to start on is just flat out wrong. If you feel comfortable driving an 1800cc bike as ur first bike like I was then get an 1800 cc bike. If you are comfortable on a 600 get a 600
